I actually dont think that they have the money.. It seemed to me from the interview that night with Brendan O'Connor that this was all that RTE offered him, and it's his only shot and getting some publicity for himself (to hopefully get other jobs).. He seems like a decent guy, but I think he's making .. sorry, made.. a big mistake

I agree that they prob agreed to do show to promote themselves for work in the future, but it smells so badly of desperation that it really is a shocking statement of our messed up society.
If either of my kids ever aspire to being famous/successful by simply being z list tabloid fodder, then I will have failed so badly as a parent.

RTE always play the same bloody songs that are oh so popular - Florence ATM, Snow Patrol, Sigur Ros, Hoppipolla, always gets a look in (for sport especially), and Arcade Fire (slowly falling off the radar). Diversity is alive and well..
