    Yes, they are included in the 10e 30day free onnet offer in PAYG but not in the Pay Monthly On Net. There are however free minutes and texts offnet incldeud in Pay Monthly that would offer more value than PAYG.

    Hi Felim

    Yes you get this text when in the UK but not NI (need to 100% check this). Were you in NI or close to the coast in North West UK.

    We do offer All Ireland rates when calling ROI numbers from NI. When you call other numbers from NI its roaming rates.

    I'm at home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire so nowhere near NI or North West UK and I still haven't had that Roaming Rates text despite turning the phone on and off regularly.

    Since buying my Nokia C1-01 last month, I have not been able to access the internet either in Ireland or when roaming in the UK (where I am now). The phone reports:-

    Temporary network problem
    Link not available

    Should the phone/SIM have out-of-the-box internet access or do I have to buy an add-on?

    My understanding is that Bonus Top-Up Credit expires after 30 days but I have heard that it is held over if you top up again by at least €10 within that 30 days. Is this correct?

    I originally applied a €10 Top-Up voucher and received a €10 Bonus Top-Up Credit which I had little opportunity to use as I returned to the UK within a few days. That Bonus Top-Up Credit is due to expire today but I have since purchased a €10 top up online. Will that save my Bonus Top-Up Credit for another 30 days?

    Quick question regarding call pricing within Ireland:

    I made a call to a 1850 number a few days ago and the call came out of my regular credit rather than my bonus credit. Is this expected and if so, do 1890 numbers come out of regular credit as well?

    I suppose as a generalisation you could say that, if the full telephone number does not begin with a zero, then the call or text won't come out of your bonus credit.

    Settings for Android are as below

    1. Go to Settings-> Wireless&Networks->Mobile Networks and turn on Data Roaming

    2. Go to Settings-> Wireless&Networks->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names and delete all existing APN’s.

    3. Create a new Internet APN with settings

    Name: TMI Internet APN
    APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    MCC: 272
    MNC: 11
    APN Type: default, supl

    (sometimes for APN Type setting you are only allowed choose from a list. If so choose Internet or default)

    4. Create a new MMS APN with settings

    Name: TMI MMS APN
    APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    MMSC: http://mmc1/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy: 10.1.11.19
    MMS Port: 8080
    MCC: 272
    MNC: 11

    I cant find a reference to what model the GTS130 is? If it is tri band/quad band then yes it will work in the US. Cingular/AT+T are our preferred partner.

    YES - In practice TescoMobile is 'roaming' on O2.

    Yes Data Roaming has to be on. Some of the newer Android phones can recognise National Roaming vs International Roaming and have a setting to just choose National Romaing. But if not then Full Data Roaming has to be on.

    I keep getting the following message when trying to top up through the Tesco website. The error reads, "an unexpected error has occured, please contact your system administrator". I have tried across my work network and got the same error. Anybody else having this issue....thanks.

    I understand I can use a Tesco SIM in a USB dongle to get say 350MB data (over 7 days) for €2.99 I need to use payg and not be tied to a contract . I would like to do this so I can use my laptop in my house which has no landline.
    I already use Tesco mobile payg in my mobile phone and think the best way to get broadband on my laptop is to buy a second Tesco SIM for the dongle. However, it seems I need to Text "Data" to 174210 to initiate the data bundle for the dongle. Do I need to remove the SIM from the dongle and fit it in a phone everytime I want to do this as I cannot see a way to Text from the laptop/dongle itself (I don't want automatic bundle purchase as I'm often out of Ireland for several weeks)???
    Can anyone advise if what I'm trying to do looks reasonable- and as the mobile phone coverage is OK with the phone should it be OK with the dongle?

    It is a simple phone and does not allow tethering - I did wonder about buying a Smart phone just to get that feature, but it seems a pricey option.

    Hi Malcolm

    Most of the dongle softwares have an SMS software client also so you should be able to do the purchase from the dongle software without moving the SIM to a phone.

    Check the manual of your dongle software.

    Sorry, I am not sure on specific models but if you do a google before you purchase on the model number you should be able to find the features.

    All the Huawei stick modems I have used had SMS clients.

    Thanks. I have just checked the O2 mobile broadband coverage for Cornamona in County Galway (where I live) and, as far as I can see, there does not seem to be coverage. Is there any chance a 3G dongle would work there? Do you know if there are any plans to extend coverage there?

    My daughter & I have just moved from Meteor to Tesco Mobile (I've got the LG Optimus & she has the Samsung Y Pro) We're both on the 18 month €25 contract and they have been activated. Before the numbers were ported yesterday we had internet access on the phones but since the transfer we can't get on.....do we need to do something with the phones or should I ring customer care??

    We operate on O2's radio network so we have identical coverage to them.

    If you cant get O2 coverage then you wont have Tesco Mobile coverage. The maps sometimes can be a little in variance with on the ground reality so its always best to test coverage yourself with a SIM (in dongle ideally). You can get a free SIM here.

    You probably need our data/MMS settings. See here for an automated tool to send settings to your phone. If your phone isnt covered by the automated tool, manual Android settings are also available on this page

    Hi there

    2G coverage for voice and text (and EDGE data) is different to 3G coverage so having one does not guarantee the other.

    EDGE on 2G is usable for getting emails and light browsing but for video and sizable downloads it would be much better to have 3G coverage.

    Its difficult for me to say anything about your precise location. Testing yourself before committing to anysizable spend is always the best course of action.

    This is all very confusing. I want to sign up for the Tesco unlimited calls offer which expires at the end of this month. But I work a bit in Northern Ireland and I have a deal with O2 where my NI calls are included in my minutes, plus it doesn't cost me to receive calls.

    When I talk to Tesco Mobile, I get told different things. Some say NI isn't considered as roaming. Others say it is. You say that it isn't considered as roaming but the link you provide doesn't mention anything about this. I just talked to someone in Tesco Mobile today and the roaming rates they gave me were higher than on the website (they said 13c to receive, 42c to make calls back to the Republic) so now I'm totally confused.

    The bottom line is - if I can make calls to the South of Ireland and receive calls for free whilst up North (in other words, if it's not treated as roaming), then I'm in. Some people at Tesco tell me I can, others say I can't. It would be nice if someone told me in writing what the exact situation is.

    Since my only option when I'm up North would be to log onto the O2_UK network (as Tesco doesn't show up as a network when roaming - I have a Tesco UK card and when I'm back down south, I have to connect to O2_IRL), I suspect that I will incur roaming charges when up North.

    Can you please clarify this for me once and for all?

If this is definitely the case, then I'm signing up. Can I take your word here as being the definitive word because some of the customer service people at TMI say this isn't the case?

    Yes , that is the case. You need to make sure you call ROI numbers using +353xxxx to make sure they come from your inclusive units when in the North. Dont use any other NI shortcodes to call ROI numbers as these will be seen as international roaming calls.

    Also if you use the +35348xxxx code that allows you to call NI numbers as ROI national numbers then these will come from your units also. If you use +44 to call NI numbers these will be international roaming calls.

    Yes, when using +3538xxx as the destination number
