My mothers back is at her and she's driving me up the wall.

She has previously gone to Moss Lane in Mitchelstown but can't get through to him now.

She has heard of a Butcher in Rathkeale who is supposed to be very good, does anyone have any contact details for him?

Or... go to an actual bone doctor, i.e. an osteopath.

He is butcher by day. My father heard of him from a friend who employed lads that moved furniture. He used to send them out to him for back problems etc... And he sorted them out. My father, grandmother, grandfather, uncle and a few more have gone to him since. My father has never looked back as he sorted him out and my grandfather too. My grandmother and uncle found him good but are still in a little pain but they are more extreme cases. they have been to loads of specialists but got the best results from him.

I don't know exactly what it is he does but it seems to work. I don't think he charges either but suggests if you'd like to leave a donation, most people leave about 10 or 20 euro.

She has been, and to a physio as well, neither worked and coat her an arm and a leg so it's time to go down the alternative route.

I'm not sure it's a good idea putting up someone's details on the internet like that unless you have permission to do so.

Apart from a butcher, what is he?

I ask because I've wasted a load of money on physio over the past 15 months with a recurring shoulder problem

My father in law goes to him (hes a stroke patient). He has been to physios and no relief and is going to Joe and find him brilliant. He does get relief and also noticed what else was wrong (apart from the obvious paralyised parts) that the physios did not pick up on.

Hard to say really. Some would call him a bone speciallist of sorts. I think it may have been passed down through his family but could be wrong. All I now is it seems to work. What meoklmrk91 says about his mother is very similar to my father, he had back problems and pain shooting down his leg all the time, doctors just kept giving him pain medicine and said there wasn't much that could be done for back problems. He went out to Joe and he said he could feel the bones click back into place as he ran his hand up his back and he has been 100 times better since with very rairly any pain in his back.

Ever try going to a chiropractor?

My back is pretty awful, theres some days when standing hurts!
Ive been to joe and a chiropractor, im gonna stick with the chiropractor.

Joe was a quick fix but the chiro told me a lot more about what was wrong, why and how to lessen reaccurances and was a lot more thorough.

if Joe was a quick fix did it work and Id imagine the chiropractor will cost you way way more, deep pockets and all that

moss lane for me, a few years back i took a canadian basketball player out to him, the guy could not believe it, 3 minutes and he had done more than the injury clinic in the regional and a couple of physio could not do in three months

It worked as a quick fix only, as in few weeks later it was back again.

Chiro is only 35euro and relief lasts longer, 2 months give or take. Joes donation is 20euro so for 15euro difference il take the chiro. Works out cheaper for me anyway.

Im not knocking joe, i know a lot of people swear by him but different things work for different people. Ive heard some people say he's done wonders for them while others found very little improvement with him. All depends on individual person.

Ya thats what I mean about certain cases in my first post. For my Dad and Grandad he did wonders but for my Uncle and Nan it was just a quick fix for a while.

Moss Lane is brilliant, my mother swears by him, she has been going to him since I was very small. But she can't seem to get in contact with him any more, the only number she has doesn't ring. Pity really as he is a lovely man, met him a few times as a kid.

Update on the Mothers back: It worked for a day, she was up all night Saturday Night/Sunday morning with the pain in it. Thus so I am, as she is doing a fair bit of complaining. She is now doing exercises the Physio showed her to try and aid the healing, so hopefully a combination of both will help. Not slating Joe at all, he does seem to be very good and know his stuff but I think every one is different and what will work for one might not work for another.

I was at Maurice Lane recently of a Wednesday. Around 1-2pm. He also does Thursdays and Saturdays. He still has the same phone number, but will only answer it at around 9pm the night before he works.

Arrived about 12.30 (slept it out) and queued for about 45 mins.

Was in with Moss for less than a minute. Don't think he fixed my back problem. Still very stiff. I'll know more tomorrow, maybe (?).

Went to him around 8 years ago, and he fixed my back immediately. Walked out of there like a new man! Think I had slipped disks then. Maybe it's a trapped nerve this time?

The place was jointed. Dogs, horses and humans everywhere!
