    indeed some chancer
The car is in the workshop now, will know monday what the problems are with her, gonna have to put the money into her and sell her on in time, my conscience would not let me pass it on the way it is!

Someone should start a website DONTDEAL.IE we could all post up on it our experiences with the chancers we met and the lemons we viewed along the way! If you find a motor on donedeal, viewed it and its crap or the seller is dodgy share it before someone gets stung, stamp out the cowboys!

    What you think guys?

I think that you were foolish to believe anything that a seller tells you and to not have gotten the motor professionally checked out before parting with your money.
The car may have been a piece of crap. You bought it despite having had the chance to give it a complete once over. The seller may be a complete chancer, I have no idea nor do I care. You should have had the wit to check what you were buying before doing the deal. For you to accuse donedeal or anyone else is trying to blame others. There wouldn't be cowboys if there weren't people who believed what they say!

Off you go. www.dontdeal.com is for sale for €1550.
www.dontdeal.ie is available for around €20 per year.....but you will have to convince the Irish Web Domain crowd that you are entitled to use that name. They sometimes take a lot of convincing.

To be honest your best course of action would probably be to CONFIRM with the revenue inspectors that this seller is registered as either a sole trader (or a company) involved in the motor trade.
I'm sure that they would be interested to see a few screenshots of his current Ads.;)

And how or where did I accuse donedeal of anything?

And how or where did I accuse donedeal of anything?

Negative connotations of the domain name? Donedeal had nothing to do with anything, they are a virtual supermarket wall, on which you put your ad. Blaming them would be like blaming a dating site for your rape after arranging to meet up with someone off it without caution!

Read back through the posts guys, I didn't accuse donedeal of anything or blame them for anything! So I won't be drawn any further on that score! Sorry if your not getting the debate your looking for!

What sort of car is it? Does it definitely have a timing chain? My condolences if you were taken for a ride due to your naivety and innocence, and it sounds like you were. Make sure the vendor has changed ownership into your name (so that before you go spending money to fix it the car is legally yours). If he is a conman, and i dont wish to scaremonger, you have to think of the worst case scenarios.
Best case scenario is that the airbag light is due to a seatbelt tensioner and the rattle is just a rattle...

    ...it seems you are.

Ensure you report him to revenue, as they may be interested in the amount of cars he sells.

OP, with all the problems that car has, I doubt it could have ever passed an NCT.
Check if the NCT on that car is genuine (willing to bet it isn't, if it is, it's a €50 in the ashtray job), if that is the case it would seem that this particular dealer seems to specialise in buying old bangers, sticks a fake NCT disc on them and sells them on for a profit.
And that just might be how you can get him, because that is fraud.

Is it just me or is Donedeal the place, to buy "interesting cars".

Seems to be alot of stories going round about the place.

It's just the amount of cars sold on it, combined with the ease of putting up an ad, E3 (sorry about no euro symbol, someone took issue with that the other day but i don't have a euro sign on this keyboard) is feck all to pay out when you will almost certainly sell your car of donedeal if it's priced right and has proper pictures, details etc.

    Try Ctrl-Alt-4 for the €. ;)

As for DoneDeal, any car I've seen on there and actually gone to look at has always had something the seller was either hiding or not exactly forthcoming with. Funnily enough a Motorcheck always showed their ads to be plain lying in parts, which is strange when they usually champion the fact they will provide one to you with the car...
