Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As you can see, we never did get the hang of it.

Last night me and my mate went to see comedian Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, at the Albert Halls in Bolton town centre.

I've seen his shows many times on TV and on DVD but last night I went to see him in person.

And he was absolutely hilarious. The whole audience was in tears of laughter.

At the end of the show Al Murray asked the guy controlling the lights to put the lights back on so that he could take a photo of the audience from the stage and then put it on his facebook page for us to see.

On the photo you can see, at the very back of the audience (top centre in the photo) the man who controls the lighting. He is standing up. Just in front of him (slightly below and to the right of him in the photo) you can see a guy in a light blue short-sleeved shirt. And that's me! Immediately to my left (to the right as you look at it) is my mate that I was with.

So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.

I once sold a camera to a man who said once that he'd seen a photograph of Jack Charlton hanging behind the bar in a pub where he once heard that Roy Keane had had a pint. What are the chances of that, eh?

...also "Batsy, that's a good British name."

Batsy is actually what I was nicknamed in school because it is a shortened version of my surname, which is Battersby.

Battersby is one of the most ancient of English surnames, dating from before the Anglo-Saxon times. The name is a result of the original family - my ancient ancestors - originally having lived in the village of Battersby in North Yorkshire. The village's name is from the Old Norse for "Bothvarr's town".

The Battersby's held an ancient seat in Yorkshire long before the Norman Conquest of 1066.

I have ancestors who conquered the Neanderthals. We're particularly proud of that episode in our family.
