Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For about third time in two months, a mate of mine was in that CEX shop on Mary St(In Dublin for all you culchies) and noticed his robbed HTC phone was sitting on shelf for sale.
He complain to the staff and they didnt know what tell him, he's now going tge shop about it.
It doesnt surprise, everytime Im in theres abundance of junkies and scumbags pawning off phones and other eletrical gizmos, most likely robbed.
This is abit infuriating, that scumbags are robbing decent folk, selling their loot to these greedy c*nts who in turn sell them for big profit

Is there not a law or something to stop this

Well, i would have thought everyone knew at this point that if your handset is robbed you simply contact your mobile phone provider and they can block the IMEI number on all networks.

Well if he has any proof its his, and that it was stolen, then he might be able to walk in and mention 'trading in stolen goods' and watch them crap themselves.
    Hard to prove though.
    Did he report the theft?

    Sort of,
It sells nearly all second hand stuff, dvds, games, phones laptops etc

But doesnt seem any proceedures about taking stuff in
Id reckon lot of their stock is stolen goodd

Sure if you trade in your phone, they have gear to unblock and unlock it, so even if you ring provider it still can be sold be these fagans

To be honest, if I saw a shop trying to sell my possessions I would not leave until I had it back in my hands.

Just because they're scum who've paid money to other scum for other people's possessions doesn't give them any right to resell stolen goods.

In an ideal world IMEI blocking should make a phone useless but the problem is that the IMEI can be changed somewhat easily on many new smartphones if you have the tools and the knowledge required. Out of reach of the brain dead scum who actually steal phones but well within the reach of dodgy shops who sell stolen goods.

His initials were craved on inside of lid,
He said it to them, they offered him new one

But still not good enough, they still taking in robbed goods

    Its no secret round town

Sounds like you'd be leaving with a police escort, then.

THIS INFURIATES ME. Did he go straight to the gardai and inform them his stolen phone was in the window of that shop. It is illegal to receive stolen goods and that shop obviously know they were doing so. If there was no proof they did, they will be more wary on receiving goods off people who are obviously scumbags. It wouldn't surprise if the scummer went into that shop with a bag full of stolen phones and no power packs etc.

Without receivers of stolen goods there would be less theft.

That's why I keep the box and receipt for any phone I buy, if I were in that cex situation I'd show them the imei on the box/receipt and if it matched the phone... Then they have no argument.
