http://soundcloud.com/evan-b54/butcher-the-drummer-val-normal if you could take a few seconds to rate this mix i'd really appreciate it :)

Ps this was recorded in a shed. The shed has acoustic treatment and stuff now but no live control room or anything all in the one room.

Just Like to start by saying that Im in no position to really critique your mix but my first impression is that its very dull sounding overall.
When it kicks in at 1:23 it seems that the drums are too quiet,I can only really hear the snare drum poking though, not too many hats.

At 3:06 the guitar sound could do with some high end on it as there's nothing else playing at that point you could get it really bright and then have it drop back into the mix with your original eq setting on it

again like I said, take my critique with a pinch of salt.
the song overall is quite good but I really didnt like the part at 2:35,felt out of place for me

the boxy drum sound does them no favours , quite honestly .

its a good learning experience , and the tunes are ok
but the sooner you find a way to make a great drum track the better.

    What dya mean by boxy?

Just a quick thing on the tracks, i wanted to have the guitars down lower but the clients kept asking me to push the guitars and would not let up on it and I think that masks the drum tracks out.

it sounds like it was tracked in a small room with no treatment .

has that low mid honky reverb about it .

if you record drums you need to do it in a great sounding room

or do it in a totally dead room and add reverb later.

Is it just me but is there a really noticeable hum on this track from 40 seconds til 52 seconds

I think you'd need to mix every 4 bar segment as if it were a separate track.

Where there's no voice you don't need to make room for it - and should fill it with strong guitars and drums, and for the vocal pieces you should drop back the guitars and bring the vocals forward.
