Memory cards have different size of memory called GB
6 hold more memory that 4 and is more expensive. 6 , having more memory can record more HD footage than a 4GB card.

The larger GB in you card the longer you can record for on it - so get the largest card you can afford if you plan to shoot a lot of footage.

think golden virginia is missing the point. Class 4 cards are no good for HD video recording depending on the device. For example a class4 card shooting full HD video on a DSLR is a no go. Video will cut off after a few seconds because the buffer fills up and the video is forced to stop. To be safe a would go and get a decent class10 cards.

I got this card myself and it works without a hitch, no problems at all

Play it safe and get a good branded Class 10 card.

Seem to be plenty of good deals out there.

I am not sure that the OP is using a dslr to film video footage, i think its more likely that the OP means to use a video recorder not the video function on digital stills camera - these usually are programmed to cut out after about 10 seconds of video footage.

In any event, I have advised the OP to get the largest memory that he/she can afford. Using most video camera's, I get about 30minutes of HD footage on a 4Gig card, about an hour on an 8 card and about 2hrs on a 16 card. This does vary with each camera.

    I have a GoPro and a Canon 600D; I use class 10 for both.

No point taking any chances, a class 4 is very likely to cut out after a few seconds recording. Class 6 might do so as well. Protect yourself and get a few 16GB class 10 cards.

Been using these 16GB Class6 cards for over a year. I shoot professional video and have NEVER had a problem even once.

Golden, you are still missing the point. There are many sizes of SD card and yes get the largest to have more available. but there are different classes of card that operate at different bit rates. Class 10 (recommended for HD recording is around 24Mb/s and above. Class 4, 6 will just not work in my camera. But OP you should read your camera specs and see what Bit rate cards you need. then match accordingly. There is a link above to a good one. Also Conns in town will sell you one 32gb for about €115. Ask for Class 10. Don't be messing with substandard cards and get caught out.

Whilst on a shoot recently some ejit stuck a 8gb class 4 card in the camera and went shooting. The camera appeared to be working. When coming to get the footage off the camera the card was blank. Losing all the clients footage. :(

You can get class 10 16gb cards for 30 euro online. Do not buy these in any shop in Ireland, you'll be ripped off.

Go with the spec recommended by the camera, a decent brand and as big as you can get. Its down the the Mbit/s the camera is recording at versus the write speed of the card.

I menat to say as well that the Class of the card is vital and 6 seems to be the minium for full HD recording.

Ive used them a few times over the years no complaints but be careful of SDXC as your camera may not be able to use it

    Check Amazon or Ebay.

The problem with buying from Amazon.com is you won't get free shipping and may not be able to buy it at all as they will not ship electronics outside the US. At least buying it in Ireland if you have a problem, getting a replacement is simple enough. Also spending the few bob here may be keeping someone in a job :D There are also a lot of bogus cards sold on ebay so make sure to check the sellers feedback if you do go the ebay route.

I like the amount of specs on this site. I have to have minimum of 24MB/s.
