It was on Sunday with a repeat in the wee small hours of Tuesday morning
    02.20 am

    Riding Giants

    Storyville, 2011-2012

    Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes

The history of surfing culture is told through the exploits of the pioneers and contemporary heroes of big-wave surfing in Stacy Peralta's documentary, which features the likes of Greg Noll and Jeff Clark. Riding Giants makes palpable the magnitude and terrifying power of the waves they seek to conquer and captures the unfathomable combination of adrenaline and fear that the surfers experience each time they take on a monster swell.

Yea I watched it, had seen it many times before. It wasn't made the BBC though ;) Peralta also made Dogtown and Z-Boys.

Riding giants is a great film, some of the footage in it is unreal and its an entertaining look at the history of big wave surfing. One of the few surf films I would recommend to non-surfers.

    you watch it OP?

You're not wrong there. Apparently the first time Flea rode Mavericks he was tripping on acid, big wave seems to attract a particular type of lunatic.

You should watch the last half hour when you get the chance, some of the best stuff is in that.

it's one of the best surfing films definitely.
there's some poor surf films out and a few disappointing ones in the last few years this isn't one of them
have it on dvd and go back to watch it many times and yes it's very good for non surfers too

All the mavericks crew were crystal meth heads. Peter Mel got his **** together but Flea's life went down the toilet.
