Somewhat off topic but you reminded me with your reference to Poles. I wouldn't send my child to a school where they would be an ethnic minority if there were other viable options, but that's not because I'm afraid of black people. I just wouldnt send them to a school where they were going to be seen as different and stand out. I've lived in an a few areas with mostly black population too.

I found it annoying that another woman stated that the reason they were here was that 'we the do the work for ye,ye don't want to work' that's a fallacy.There are many indigenous English that would love to work but the amount of immigrants in that country have made it uneconomically viable for them to do so..10 million plus and they're the one's they know about,so the number in reality is probably much higher.

I have african friends and so have been invited to parties at their homes where I was the only white person in attendance. I certiantly wasn't intimidated. In fact they were some of the best parties Ive been to and they seemed really proud to show off their culture to someone else.

They made tons of amazing home made food and supplied all the alcahol for everyone else but saying that none of them got really drunk. Just listend to alot of music, ate great food and had a really good time with each other.

How and why would you find black people intimidating? Or why would you be less likely to send your kids to school with mostly black people. Most of the Africians I know work really hard in school because their parents are far stricter about education. There were no days off for any of my Africian friends growing up, their parents made sure they did their homework and there was no questions of weather or not they were going to uni afterwards. They were going and that was the end of it. Mind you I did think some of them were over strict but I still admired their work ethic and it certiantly did none of them any harm they all have masters degrees now.

Was over visiting a cousin in Hackney a couple of years ago and the area of Hackney he lived in was nicely mixed, whites, blacks, Turks, etc.

He told me though that if you go about a mile in that direction it's all blacks, a mile in the other direction it's all Turks & Middle Easterners.

Nobody is supporting her. Those of use who use London transport see rants everyday - although its hard to tell what people are ranting about in most cases. So if she was ranting and raving about anything else, it wouldn't be on boards.

A junior recruiter going through a pile of CVs has to thin them out somehow, so the ones with "foreign" names get recycled. You get stuck in a job, passed over for promotion, because you don't have the "right look" to represent the company. And so on. A "casual, unconcerned prejudice" doesn't make a scene, it works behind the scenes.

I'm taking my figures from a BBC report on the 2001 census which I imagine is pretty reliable. Almost 500k people born in Ireland lived in the UK at the time of the census, more than any other nation. And I'd be willing to bet that figure has gone up over the past few years.
