Has anyone upgraded from pegasus 33's to the new 34's? The 33's have been my fav shoes by far so I don't want to change too much and have heard that traditionally the pegasus range doesn't change too much from version to version?

SoleReview seems to say the changes are to the upper. I wonder if it's worth the change if you could pick up some 33's cheaper?

I'm still trying to find somewhere in Ireland to try on the fastwitch, heard they require a size up but need to see.

Or in your case, buy 5 and send 2 or 3 back ;)

Picked up a pair of Kinvara 8s half price on ASOS, of all places.
Have to thank Ophelia for that one.

Any verdict on the Zoom Fly? I know a couple of heads on here had them ordered a while back. Saw bucketloads of them in Berlin, not sure if they were the 4% models or not, but they were everywhere. I'm pretty happy with my Adizero Adios Boosts, but you know yourself.... :)

I know a few people who bought Zoom Fly’s and didn’t like them so ended up selling them.

Stick to what you know I guess

Black ones were 2 quid extra. Went for those because of size, not colour.

Got a bit carried away and picked up 3 pairs of nearly new Brooks (Adrenaline GTS 16, Cascadia 10 and Hyperion) on eBay for a grand total of £90. Seemed to be a clearance sale of in-store models. I hope it's not a case of too good to be true!

    Linky?

    Here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/profeetoutlet/

It's the online outlet of a bricks & mortar store from London so should be genuine stuff.

Black Kinvara 8 (€57) arrived from ASOS. Between them and the NB 1400 (€54) from M&M I'm stocking up on cheap shoes that I currently have no need for. Still running in Kinvara 7 and Adidas Supernova (which were €60 from Lifestyle)..

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,080 ✭✭✭BeepBeep67

£30 - be rude not too :D, have a couple of pairs of pure connect that have been relegated to grass and trails.

Loving the 1400 v5, one of the most comfortable and quietest runners I've ever worn.
The seamless upper is wonderful, reasonable amount of cushioning and great grip and all wrapped up in a package that only weights about 215 grams.
The only potentially gotcha is they are a little on the small side going by UK sizing, so go up half a size if you plan for longer runs.

They still had 5 or 6 for sale (in sizes 8 to 10 UK) when I found the advert but at £25 a pop they didn't take long to sell.

I think the ones I got are the v4. I went up a half a size from looking at how New Balance convert sizes from US to UK sizes. They seem to fit quite well.

I've been using Asics GT 2000 for the last five years or so. Got them based on a recommendation in a local sports shop when I started getting into running, and just went back for the same thing whenever I needed new ones. My latest pair are starting to get very smooth underneath so there's not much grip in them where leaves or moss build up on tracks/paths/some of the narrower roads near the woods. I'm looking to buy a new pair but the new model is €140. I can't justify spending that much at the moment. The price seems to jump up by €20 or more every two years.

The salesman in Elvery's was pushing me towards cheaper models yesterday but then corrected himself when I told him I plan to run HMs in the spring. He reckoned I'll need the extra support over that distance.

Should I just go ahead and get a cheaper pair of runners for the next few months while I'm focusing on 5km - 5 mile runs? I'm open to trying different brands instead of Asics if that's what people recommend. Something that would give me good grip and support as I try to improve my 5k times, but wouldn't break the bank?

The guy in Elvery's in all probability doesn't know his arse from his elbow. "Extra support over that distance" is just the sort of tosh they specialise in. There is no need to be spending €140 every time you need new runners. My advice: go to a specialist running shop - Amphibian King, Run Hub, Run Logic, whatever, and find a pair that you like. AK will get you to try on a half-dozen pairs and run around the carpark in them. Buy the pair that you like best and feel most comfortable in. If they do the job, then henceforth buy the same model online: you'll pick up shoes for €50-70 online, as opposed to >€100 in the bricks and mortar shops.

I've been wearing GT-2000s for the last 3 or 4 years also and have never paid over €100 for them. Actually the latest pair I bought last month on Amazon for around €90. Shop around online and you'll definitely come in cheaper than Elverys
