Closing date for applying to universities abroad.

    Asking this on behalf of a friend.

    Does anyone know in-or-around when the closing dates are for applications to universities in the UK or the US are? I know it will differ from college to college but if anyone had a rough estimate (ie. never before christmas anyway) that would be great!

    Is this for undergrad or postgrad? Undergrad is as follows:

    UK applications open through UCAS in mid-September. Deadlines vary year to year with days of the week but they're broadly similar. For 2012 entry they are December 15 for Oxbridge and medicine/veterinary, January 15 for almost all other courses except those with alternative dates specified, March 24 for art & design courses except those that closed earlier.

    The US doesn't have a centralised application system like UCAS/CAO so deadlines are on a college-by-college basis. If your friend has one specific college in mind early decision applications are put in around November and it's common to have a better chance of getting in if you apply in the early stage rather than the later one. However decisions are binding and you can only do one early decision application per year. Regular admission applications are typically done anywhere between December and February. There may also be deadlines for applications for financial assistance etc. that should be kept in mind :)
