    Hi,
    I'm in 4th year Med and I was thinking of working in UK after graduating, and training to be an ophthal. when I qualify. I have two questions;
    1. Would it be possible to do your intern training there or does it have to be Ireland? (I know it's 2 yrs not 1)
    2. If I did my intern year here and wanted to apply straight to a training scheme say for ophthalmology would that be possible or would they only be available to people working in UK?

    I'm in final med, and I've been asking not too dissimilar questions myself lately.

    You can apply for the intern years in the UK from here. The applications need to be in earlier than the Irish application forms though.
    From what I've been told, if you do your intern year here, and then apply to the UK, you would have to do the 2 foundation years before getting on a training scheme.

    I want to get on a paediatrics training scheme, and apparently the best place for that is Britain, so anyone with any other knowledge on applying to the UK would be most welcome!
