Speaking of window placement, it's it in contravention of planning laws to have this window?

    From the Cork examiner today...:(

Tomorrow may be our warmest-ever Christmas Day
    Saturday, December 24, 2011 - 02:01 PM

Tomorrow could to be the warmest Christmas Day ever in Ireland.

Temperatures are expected to reach a record 14C in parts of the east.

It is understood the current record for the hottest Christmas Day was set in 1974 when the mercury hit 13.7C at Dublin Airport.

But forecaster with Met Eireann Joanna Donnelly said temperatures could be even higher tomorrow.

"Today we're looking at 11C or 12C possibly, but tomorrow 11C to 13C generally is expected, and we might hit 14C in parts of the east tomorrow," she said.

Indeed, keep an eye on Trogder's and my site for Föhn induced temperatures which gave 14.6C with me on the 21st.

My max for 25th is 12.1C in 2003

I also have trap on and there are moths coming, but I did a tree trunk search by torchlight in the young woodland. Plenty of Winter Moths and Chestnuts (a kind of moth)

Some of the Winter Moths were mating pairs smile.gif

The female is flightless, just a couple of stubs for wings. they can be seen in the photo, though not clearly. Many species that are about in winter adopt this way of mobile males and flightless females. This strategy means she can be large and carry loads of eggs. see the size of her body compared to the male.

Best time to search is the first hour of darkness. the males are flying about looking for females and the females are emitting pheromones attracting the males. the males are quite easy to see and all the females I find this evening were as part of a mating pair

That must be the twig of a common cherry tree (Prunus avium)?

There seem to be threads for everything here, except trees :(
