Please help me choose a new phone

Hi All. Just had an offer to upgrade my work phone. We are only allowed to go for free upgrades,so here is what I have to play with. I think I would like to go smartphone for the first time, but have no idea which of these should be considered and which should be avoided. So your help on this matter would be much appreciated. I do like a decent battery life, but I did hear that this in not really possible with a smartphone. However I probably won't use it too much for surfing,etc.. as I have almost constant access to the net by pc/laptop. But when I get it you never know!!

I guess some of the phones could be new models and some could be end of line, but as I say I have no idea when it comes to smartphones.

As far as im aware the Galaxy S Plus is free on a silver upgrade on O2 in carphone warehouse.

That was last week though. Not sure about this week as its the change over
