Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I agree that it does not mean both have to agree which is why I said 'at least talk to her first'.

You should not have to talk about everything/anything first, joint a/c or not.

Yet again, you are correct..you don't have to but you are in a relationship, it is normal to discuss these decisions.

Depends, did he buy it with his own money or do you have a joint account? If it's his own money, why wouldn't he. If it's joint saving, just get him a game or something small since it was a bit out of order without at least talking to you first.

This is one of the reasons I would never have a joint account.

Well he used the credit card.
His money is our money, as is mine if you know what I mean?
We haven't managed to set up a joint account yet, but we filled out the forms and everything.
We share all money - we have 2 kids, a mortgage, bills etc...

Not something as trivial as a ps3, hardly worthy of a big discussion in my book.

Makes sense, a selection box should keep him happy this year. He'll be too busy playing skyrim to notice he hasn't got anything.

I assumed she would watch the tv as well so would benefit from it.
I win what, don't be so childish ffs.
I hope he bought a colour tv not black and white !

    I don't watch tv.
The bloody thing actually annoys me because I can't figure out how to work it!!
The kids watch it though, but there was nothing wrong with the previous tv - other than the fact that it didn't have these plugs for the ps3!
I haven't asked him how much he spent, because I know I would just go crazy!
    Ignorance is bliss :)
But I'm imagining it was about €700/€800 in total.
And we had to borrow money from his parents last month to pay the mortgage!

Bought her a VW Polo 3 weeks ago. Had been giving her lessons and she passed her full test in my car on Monday. Since then she's been going on bout getting a car as soon as possible. Trying to convince her that there will be big sales after Christmas. She seems to have no idea bout the present.

Wanna be careful how you phrase it on the day; "Happy Christmas love. I saw this and thought of you. It's for a spa."

Could wind up with a slap in the face for that one...

I wish I had a partner to buy something for :(
I think a Dutch auction is in order - who wants the cheapest present? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 421 ✭✭Aseth

We are getting a present for ourselves, together - a Wii. Plus a couple of games. It's a mean of getting some entertainment, exercise and spending some time together having fun :D

I'm making her a shoe from clay with a rose on it. Nearly done!

I wouldn't want a spa voucher personally. Unless it was in some swanky hotel down the country, and he came with me, and we gave each other massages, and ordered room service and wine, and didn't leave the room for the whole weekend. Then I'd want a spa voucher.

I'm torn between getting him a laptop or a watch. Blokies, what would you prefer?

Already have a jacket, shirt and jeans wrapped for him.

Have you discussed laptops at length? Otherwise the chances of you picking one that he prefers are slim, I would imagine.
    Does he wear a watch?

Lol you don't know my fella! if I put a v-tech in front of him he would still need a training manual. As long as it has an on button, allows him to google google (yes, he seriously did), and gives him access to porn and done deal then he will be happy.

He's never worn a watch as long as I have known him.

I'd get him the laptop then! He'll be delighted. I never wear a watch (and never had the inclination to either) so I'm always a bit bewildered when I get one as a gift.

You can get them on Amazon.co.uk and just get the ants in Ireland. I had to buy one for a present and this is what I ended up doing.

Well then I would imagine a laptop would be the obvious choice - aside from the expense. If an S.O. bought me a watch I'd find it bothersome to wear as I've not worn one in years but I would feel compelled to wear it nonetheless...

My boyfriend is getting spoiled rotten this Christmas! It's our first together and we've had to do long distance for 4 (excruciatingly slow) months now and I want it to be very memorable... ;) So many things planned! He knows one thing I got him which is an iPod shuffle and I know he'll use it all the time.
