Mature Student refers to an applicant who is aged 23 or older on the first of January of the year of entry to the course. http://www.southtippcoco.ie/en/highereducation/mature%20student%20definition/

BTEA or Back to Education Allowance is the weekly payment from DSP for those studying fulltime. http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/BackToEducation/Pages/btea.aspx

A reference to a BTEA student may simply mean that person is in receipt of the allowance. It is possible to be both a BTEA and Mature student. It is also possible to receive the BTEA without being a mature student in certain cases.
    Hope this helps.
