Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not being smart but have a look through the following results
Games are easily swapped on jamma setups, have a look through ebay for jamma pcb prices or build a pc to jamma rig and emulate them, don't skimp on the pc if building one

Owning a cab is awesome, but then you start wanting to tinker with it and it all gets a bit silly.

Just be kind to your bird/bloke for them letting you have one. Then ask for a Dimahoo CPS2 for your Christmas & Birthday joint present and await the response you'll get.

You then start buying stuff like authentic stools from Japan you could buy in Argos yourself and ashtrays that cost a fortune and look like any generic ashtray but cost a ton because they are from an actual arcade in Japan. Not to mention magazines and art books you can't read, toys of your favourite games and actual PCBs that cost more than a mortgage payment or two.

It's worth it though. Buy one and don't look back!! :D

    Hey Guys,

Pyongyang, Cathal, Ye guys really know ye stuff here.
Being meaning to ask this on here for ages. This thread is a good excuse to ask lol

I got 3 machines myself, Cocktail, a Sega Model 2 Upright and Twin Sega Rally. But ye know the drill One is never enough :)
Even if I have no more room for another, still cant help looking for more :)

3 machines I have, one I got off lucky and got from old arcade owner and other 2 from Adverts.ie
But im always on look out for another, all I check on is Adverts.ie and odd time few on donedeal.ie, But its not often a machine is put on and not a lot of choice.

Do ye guys have few suggested sites ye keep and eye on for Cabs?
Like few good guys from UK that are trust worthy?
Where Shipping Cost isnt crazy to ship to Ireland? Or even Japanese Sites.

Be cool to find some nice cabs with cool artwork?
Or maybe even a Candy Cab down the line.

Or is it worth a weekend trip to UK to try pick up Cabs?

    Thanks all, Kev

Nonononono, not I, I'm no expert. As mentioned in other threads, the sultans of 'insert coin' are Keithgeo and Adultappleflavouredbeveragemale. Best off having a chat with them.

Happy to help where I can though of course. :)

Ah, I was talking about our moderator overlord Ciderman. Unfortunately he is yet to convince his better half to allow him to get a cab :(

I think to view the for sale section over on ArcadeOtaku you have to make at least one post on the forums..so keep that in mind if you're just a lurker over there!

Would love to see pics of you cabs. Especially that Twin Sega Rally! You must have some amount of space to have units as big as that. I could barely fit a candy!

I'm looking at importing a few machines direct from Japan myself over the next few months if anyone is on the look out for one.

I'll be going over and hand picking them myself.
Of course it's just going to be candies all the way :D

Anyway, something to keep in mind if anyone's thinking of buying a candy.

Ive finally uploaded Pics of conversions ive done so far to picasaweb
and youtube videos for all 3 cabs, ill create thread here ASAP on them.

Steve how much you think Candy Cab cost to import in total?
Man I gotta go to Japan for trip sometime, sounds cheap from what uve said before.

This is the part I trying to sort out now.

Buying the candies over there will be cheap as hell (100-200 euro for a Egret 2/3 and around those prices for most other types as well from my contact over there).
The problem is importing them without paying mad import duty and shipping fees.

I trying to sort out a legal way to do it with the minimum of duty and fees to pay.

Would you know what sort of condition an E2 would be in for those sorts of prices?

Well the sample batch I was shown the last time I was over there included a few E2's and E3's as well as windys and astros and all of them were in very decent condition. No burn in and outer casing was mostly scratch free.

But I guess it all depends on what they have when I go to do it in a couple of months.

    @Kevin
Keep an eye on the for sale section on http://www.ukvac.com too as I've seen a nice few cabs there

After one of those too, are they the only candy with an easily rotatable monitor?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

They have an inbuilt rotate mechanism which most others don't afaik. Would love one also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,886 ✭✭✭Steve X2

Well I can get lots of E2's and E3's as they are hugely popular in the arcades over there. Prices will be low but its the shipping and import duty etc that will be the killer if I cant work something out.
No point in paying 150 Euro for a mint condition E2 when the shipping and fee's bring it up to 1000 Euro.

I really want an E2 myself to go with my E3.

if we bought a few I'd imagine the shipping could be combined for a half container or something, its the import taxes I'd be worried about

I'm heading over on Monday so will know more then. I'll only be there for a couple of days and I've a lot to do but I'll do my best get as much info as possible.

Still trying to sort something out for the import duty/taxes etc on this side as well.
