If more 'reproduce' the 3 'coverage' map they will get themselves a shocking rep from the off.

Comreg wouldn't even investigate a chewing gum stain on their reception carpet in case it highlighted their utter incompetence and lack of principles. :(

Obviously you have your own agenda, posting misleading info "hideous track record of customer support" if you had followed up and actually read the guardian article you would have seen why ..absolutely nothing to do with customer support, the follow up page from ofcom should enlighten you..

Beats me why some posters trawl the web for hours and hours for any snippets of negative news on new products or services just to try and make a name for themselves...

follow up from ofcom and closure of case..

    ehhhhh

so I actually misread the guardian article. For some reason I read customer complaints as customer service. But still, having enough annoyed users to complain to ofcom about surprise fees and charges and launch an investigation is pretty bad.

btw it didn't take me hours. I just put your company name into google (because I've never heard of you before) and that guardian article was on the first page.

Still have no idea what you're on about with my own agenda and trying to make a name for myself. I can't imagine O2 posting that kind of response when a boardsie posts something about their company.

In fairness both of you have been a bit extreme with your comments so best let it go now

@ imaginethat will you be matching your UK rates here or what's the story.those international calls will be delicious if I may say so

International Rates and Irish market rates will be the lowest of all operators as this is the aim in all markets Lycamobile are active in.

And with many more countries to launch soon it cements Lycamobile as the largest MVNO Globally, securing a new customer every 4 seconds at the current aqquisition of customers.

    Perfectly clear.

There is a market space for a specialist MVNO in the international outdialling and indialling space. As long as there are no underhand surcharges or call setup/minimum charge price gouges ( followed by a mysterious call drop or persistent 'quality problems' at 1 sec in) then good luck to whoever it is. :p

Will you be cheaper than Tesco mobile. Their by far the cheapest for International and local calls in Ireland. 1c international calls.

Lycamobile will not be cheaper than Tesco Mobile save to some African and Asian and South American destinations where Tesco Mobile charge a LOT MORE than 1c a minute.

I'd say they might do 1c Lyca to Lyca calls in Europe though. :)

Tesco Mobile are cheap to landlines in certain destinations.

Meteor with their add on and 3 gocall.ie are cheaper than Tesco Mobile for international calls to many destinations especially for calls to international mobiles.

The 3 go call thing is horrible to use. I just want to phone easily from my mobile, maybe I was using it wrongly. I understood Tesco mobile were more or less cheapest everywhere, but will go online and check gain.

I was using Lyca Mobile when I lived in Switzerland. Their target demographic was foreigners.

International call rates were excellent. Calling within Switzerland was far from competitive, except to other Lyca mobiles. Not very good data @ 150mb per month.

I'd probably have them just as a second sim card for international calls, which I make often enough. I'm happy enough with my current provider for the rest.

Looks like Tesco Mobile have moved to deliberately grab most of the 'ethnic' market in advance of More and Lyca. Tesco certainly have a lot of the significant countries sown up at Skypeout sorts of rates. Landline AND Mobile.

When you think of it the mobile call termination charge....known as a Blended MTR in Ireland (1)(2) is currently around 6c a minute ex vat (I think three is MUCH higher) and are supposed to go to 5c this year some time but you can ring a Chinese or Indian mobile for 2c a minute inc Vat. :(

These are peak rates too. > http://www.tescomobile.ie/international-rates.aspx

I'll tell you one thing Fungus. You have seen nothing until you see all the sneaky special 'promotions' that Lyca come up with...sometimes almost daily .......and all that hidden behind a low rent Sri Lankan call centre that makes the 3 operation in India look like a top drawer operation. :(

My sis in the UK uses Lyca now and then and never heard any complaints from her though we rarely talk mobile phone services. I currently use a VOIP service that using an app allows you to automatically make the international call with either data or your mobile allowances, works seamlessly for me and when the account is topped up you get free calls to US both landline and mobile! As well as free calls to a lot of landlines in Europe and Oz.
Really interested to see what Lyca has to offer

Yeah, although 5C sound cheap, it is a farce that it is cheaper to call a US mobile or a Chinese mobile than an Irish mobile.

Ha !! It beggars belief if the sick complex tariff structures that all current mobile providers in Ireland use could be any worse at Lyca.

So it is confirmed that they are on the 3 network. Something I correctly speculated on at the start of this thread :)
