Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've played minecraft singleplayer for a few hours. Liking it so far. I know how to survive the night and stuff. I can make a decent house..etc etc I've explored deep deep down to the lava and the red stone. Pretty funky! But what else can you do on singleplayer? A few mods?

Thinking of splashing out 20 squids to hit that shiz up online.

    Is it worth it?

I do love mmorpgs! Meeting new people and all that is a great laugh!

Where will I go if i get online?

Can I just type in ips I find online and hop into whatever servers I want?

Can I make my own online server and invite people into my world to help create it into something massive?

How much are servers to host?

Mods? I presume ya can download em from wherever. Are they just add-ons?
Can you use them to change your avatar and then go into servers as that new avatar?

Also, once you create a world on a laptop, is that world only unique to that laptop? Can you transfer worlds?

    Thanks ;)

Lol...asking in the Minecraft forum if the €20 is worth it :) YES! :D

There is a thread in this forum listing servers along with two massive threads for the Boards.ie server and Tallon's Server where you can be asked to be whitelisted.

You can change your skin by going to minecraft.net (after you buy the game obv.) logging in, downloading the template .png file and using it along with this:
    http://freeminecraftskins.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Skinzones.png
you can make a new one, and upload it there too.

You can transfer worlds, just google "minecraft world saves location" and it should tell you where they are stored (I'm on a mac sorry)

Most mods that you can get will have installation instructions on the first page. There are hundreds listed on minecraftforum.net

You can make your own server with the instructions on the wiki:
    http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server

As for proper server hosting I'm sure someone else could help you better than I could :)

    Great, sounds good.

Another thing, if I buy it on my laptop will that purchase be unique to that laptop. If I want it on another pc I have to buy it again?

That is entirely up to the host of the server. The two main servers relating to Boards.ie users are the Boards.ie server and Tallon's Server. Both of these request you to apply to be whitelisted. This process is put in place to ensure that us ops have a chance to see who is joining. Whitelists are there for the safety of the server.
