Advice needed on tablet pc for christmas present

I'm looking for help picking a tablet pc for a christmas present for my gf.
She has hinted that she'd like one but I dunno which one to go for.
Ideally I'd like to get her an ipad but I just don't have the money for that at the min. I only have at most €300 to spend on one.

She doesn't need it for work or anything so it doesn't need to be aimed at a business user. She'd more or less use it like a recreational laptop for browsing the web, using apps, storing photos etc etc.

I was looking at this one http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/BLACKBERRY-PlayBook-Tablet-PC-16-GB/306439/2.9?utm_source=Homepagenoms&utm_medium=Homepage&utm_campaign=TopOffer1
It has a name I recognise and seems to fit the bill but to be honest I don't really know what I'm looking at! :o

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

blackberry tablet is discontinued. Don't buy it.

Kindle Fire, or a 7" Acer Iconia would be ideal. My two favorite picks.

Cheers for that! Why was it discontinued? Is it terrible?
I'll look your suggestions up now thanks!

Motorola Xoom on Amazon was £299 a few days ago, now £305 I think. Not a bad tablet at all
