How to make a repair to roofing felt where 2 nails were hammered through

Below where there is a velux window on my roof, the 'genius' builder hammered 2 nails into what must be a support or part of the window framing.

The 2 nails are coming through the felt in the dormer attic space.

If there is driving rain in the right direction, water can get in where the nails penetrate the felt and drip off the end of the nails onto the ceiling below, causing staining etc.

I would like to know how to repair/seal this. Obviously the nails would have to be removed/trimmed down and the 2 holes sealed.

    Any advice welcomed.

You could try some bituminous mastic. Available in cartridges or tins from most builders merchants.

best try see how water is getting to the nails: can u see the nails from outside, ie are they through the bottom flashing.

The driving rain is getting in because the slate/tiles are not down right or the flashing not done right.

A judicious helping of expanded foam, carefully applied under the tiles/flashing if big gaps will seal it off, else for smaller gaps try silicone
