Well it is Scotland! Deep fried Mars bar and all that. :P

Looking quite stormy over there. Heard a report a roof blew off a school but no injuries.

I think it is interesting that Mace Head has been reporting higher mean and gust speeds than Belmullet the last couple of hours. I'd have thought given the current set up that it would be the other way around.

Was just having a read again of MT's Winter forecast set back in October and to predict a stormy December and potential "Big One" around the 11th Dec is impressive. Its worth having another read again to see what's potentially ahead for the rest of the winter...

ASCAT winds (measured by polar-orbiting satellites) at 11:34 today, showing an isolated 65 knot vector west of 9W (east of the ship that was reporting 78 knots at 11 am (which was at 56.9 N 11.1 W, which has vectors of only around 50 knots). These sensors do have a slight low bias at very high wind speeds, so it's possible that it was a few knots stronger in that area (I still doubt if it was as high as 78 though).

Just saw that on BBC's news bulletin and thought someone had gotten their km and miles mixed up... that's an insane speed even at that height.

A building has partially collapsed in Glasgow.
