Duffy sent packing by the ref :P

Penalty marched on 10 meters because Duffy talked to the ref??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Hype710

I don't think a penalty count of 11-4 in Gloucester's favour is a fair reflection of the game.

14-10, Connacht need a try now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    10-14, 8 minutes to go.

    I can't see Connacht getting a try.

    Argh forward pass from Connacht...

    What a kick from O'Connor.

Lineout on halfway in the last minute. Can they pull something out of the hat?

    It would be pretty incredible.

seriously, this gameshows why NOC isny good enough at the moment

    big boot yeah

    but
    missed an easy kick
    backline play was unimaginative

    oh yeah

he kicked the bal away when we were 4 points down and time was up:mad:

please eric, whatever jarvis has done, please start him next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Thing is... It just didn't look like Conn would ever score a try in that half. But why try the high ball? You may as well just kick it out yourself. Terrible attitude.

when we started playing phases we started causing trouble in the 2nd half, i agree we were toothless but you never no

Let's be fair- Connacht's try came from an up and under. With ball in hand they didn't look like scoring a try the rest of the afternoon and were very unlikely to do so from inside their own half so you can understand his reasoning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭cityman 18

noc what the hell were you doing...

front 5 were minced in this one. we need to find some scrummagers and fast. still might of won this one as glaws looked fairly ordinary. poor game management from 10 though.

thats fair enough but an up and under is a high risk/high reward play, you dont do that when its the last play of the game

Should have ****ing won that. Didn't play for the 1st 20, and after that we played alot better than we have been.

Paterson is a ****ing appalling referee, that's at least 3 times he's rode us sideways in the Sportsground this year. How he gets away with it I don't know.

John Muldoon was the best player on that pitch by a long way. What a hardy man, bloody inspirational.

O Connor is ****, we have to give Jarvis a chance. Young Galwegians man Eoin McKeon played well when he came on, bad looking injury for Ofisa. TOH and Loughney injured as well.

9 losses on the trot, 5500 in the Sportsground, the majority of whom stayed around to clap the team off the pitch. What supporters around would do that?

We down, but were by no means out. Provided we get a cleanish bill of health and with the possibility of Concrete returning, we can have a cut next week in Kingsholm

Honestly thought there would have been a full house for this despite Connacht's recent run as they were playing a team low on confidence themselves yet with a famous history and reputation. Regarding Neil Patterson (he's an Ulsterman) he never seems to give Irish sides a fair wind. Regarding territory and possession I thought Gloucester just shaded this but they are beatable and Connacht shouldn't fear going to Kingsholm. This pool will be all but over if Toulouse win at home to Harlequins next weekend.

Very disappointed, joc said he should be back next weekend, n o c is lost out there . Are the I r f u enforcing he plays?

Why would they? Plenty of other IQ options in Galway. Jarvis is IQ and Nikora becomes IQ during the summer based on residency.

Why would the IRFU push for a player who is imo Ireland's 11th choice OH to play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭porterbelly

Jarvis must play next week, with Nikora on the bench as an impact sub

We need to have most of the team fit again next week, with Concrete and Griffin hopefully back. Tonetti needs more time to settle into the setup.

We need more quick ball as well, have to improve our ruck clearout. On the flip side, we were prevented from making the breakdown a contest by Paterson who gave 3 penos against us in the 1st half when it was clear that the offending player was through the gate, on his feet and not the tackler. Poor decisions.

We have nothing to fear in Kingsholm

Think Gloucester got in our 22 once, and that was there try.
Mark McCrea and NOC aren't good enough. F. Murphy was poor today as well
Vainkolo did decent when came on apart from "knock on" (it went back, but he should have caught it), so hopefully be him and Tiernan (if fit, seemed to be holding his back during the game) next week. McSharry, Duffy and Muldoon were men possessed today. I know Macca is just back from suspension but he had poor day in the line out and scrum today- Swify was big loss in those rucks.

How NOC stayed on the pitch for 80mins is beyond me- missed kickable pen early on and his distrubution, creativity, tackling and place kicking leaved ALOT to be desired.

I'm not going to blame the officals for our loss, it was mainly due to ourselves as Gloucester did nothing, but my gawd they didn't help. McSharry being called offside when not, and the Gloucester side in from the side and off their feet and countless rucks not being spotted by touch judges. It is frustrating when ref ruins games by not being consistent with both teams

McCrea had a very good game today? What didnt impress you?

While I am disgusted at NOC kicking that ball away, I thought his distribution was decent today when he got the chance

Gloucester were in our 22 a lot more than once, I'd nearly say 8 or 9 times. We only got into their 22 three or four time with possession and one was the try.

Wouldn't be blaming McCarthy either he didnt get very good ball from Ethinne, who was very good in the loose I thought. McCarthy carried very well too

The turning points were Vanikolo's dropped ball and every scrum afterwards with Ah You.

Duffy can't continue as captain, it's just too far for him to come up from FB and talk to the ref. The ref actually told Muldoon to tell Duffy instructions because he wasnt going all the way back to tell him. His heart is in the right place and if he was a center I'd agree with his captaincy but unfortunately he cant get any influence from FB

enough. did ulster send noc to connacht to destroy them. what sort of a daft prat would loft a ball when they must hold possession. bloody idiot. final straw with this fecker. simply could not believe what i saw. get rid of this guy now or at least transfuse him with some level of rugby intelligence. what a fool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Matt Williams must be the only one that thinks NOC will be a late developer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,653 ✭✭✭ouncer

it's continually gutting to see connacht beat themselves. noc is s**t. murphy was reasonable, o'donohue was ca*k. for the love of the divine would the feckin management team learn to change where it matters. We lost lineouts galore within the first 20 minutes, then flavin came in and we won lineouts. now am i stupid or what should be done. Difficult decision. NOOC was sh*t after 5 minutes. I was screaming at my TV to get the fecker off at that stage. Christ. If I can see this surely it should be hitting elwood between the eyes

on the lineout thing, the lineout wasnt totally reynecke's fault

i think we lost possession 3 times around the lineout, one was a steal, one was were mccarthy lost the ball when he hit the ground and the other one i cant remember what happened
i remember the commentators making a huge issue about our lineout in the first 30 minutes alright but it steadied very quickly

so i feel the need to make a final point. flavin has always hit the guy in the lineout. why change that. mccrea is pants and always has been. His tackling was so poor I could cry. Vainikolo was given a chance and didn't do bad other than he refused to release the ball to any member of the team,. Jaysus . Explain to me the logic of how this team plays as I am lost

With alot of perspiration and passion, but low on quality.

In fairness to Fetu'u this is only his 3rd game so I'd give him time. He showed glimpses that he has a bit about him, even though as I said before, looks like someone who could be on the verge of a brain fart of anytime. That ball he dropped was poor, even though it went side/backwards.

don't knock what you say porter. i ain't killing him over a dropped ball. its just the lack of vision for players about him when he got into contact. at least o'halloran looks up before he gets tackled and lays the ball off.

Could do with getting the head up alright

With his first touch he had the opportunity to go around the outside with a prop on the wing his only opposition. Instead he stuck his head down and went infield.Could have been try time. Need to take advantage of those mismatches

There seems to be no imagination used in our attacking, flat attack met with standard defending positions, no flare , no cutting runs etc, very predictable to read from the stand and it seems from the pitch too, standard stuff when executed correctly met with standard defence positions which usually work, lots of ball and don't know what to do with it in the oppositions 22.

Lack of quick ball is a big factor in this and this is for 2 reasons, presentation by the tackled player, Muprhy has to dig alot to get the ball out, and clearouts. Some of the body positions going into clear out ball is poor.

We also lack pace throughout the side. Carr and Keatley were our 2 quickest backs, Cronin was our quickest forward. Ofisa has lost the gas he once had. Murphy has no zip either at 9

We need an injection of pace in the side. Hopefully Eric and co realise this when recruiting for next year

suggested improvements. noc out of here (any management team would have figured that one), murray more inventive (aka stringer, willing to make yards than delay ball and finally release it) (thought stringer was going to galway, now that would have helped as pod and fm are frustratingly slow and neither show any self ability to run a line themselves). My final thought for the night. Frontline work their asses off for players behind them that show no ability. If 9 and 10 are crap then the rest of the team are crap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭budgie001

It feels like the forwards are getting a hard time at the moment and perhaps undeservedly but with nothing at 9 or 10 the backs are left to do a lot and look very green and lacking direction. I find myself watching other matches wishing we had their number tens

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,653 ✭✭✭ouncer

that is so true. wish management could see it. jaysus, is it not obvious to all

ok final final comment. sky had all the stats and yes we had much of the possession. however that possession is stuck under our forwards for a couple of reasons. yes, our forwards work their asses off, but there is no concept of how to work the ball back to our back row. primary reason for this is the crap 9s we have who expect out forwards to fall over the line for us. again and again it is proven that we have a hard working pack and a talented back line. just utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter crap at 9 and 10
