Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bought a ford 5000 two months ago now im not too sure about these tractors as its fiats i deal with. I know about the engine oil. Question how do you check the back axel oil. Where do you empty it and where do you fill it. is there a hyrdraulic filter in it. Also how do you check gearbox oil?

    Welcome to da club!
The back axle has a level plug. If you stand at the back of the tractor it is on the left hand side about 10 inches above the base near the corner of the housing. The filler is above the top link, behind the seat, the back end holds about 7 1/4 galllons, you may need to add anti squak oil for the brakes. Castrol multi trans I think has this already, but morris transmission oil doesn't. You drain the back end underneath, in front of the drawbar.

The filter is inside, you will have to take the lift cover off to change it. If you are doing it get back to me as its a pretty big job.

To check the gearbox oil there is a filler plug and dipstick combined on top of the gearbox beside the main gear lever. It is a grey alloy colour same as the filler plug for the back end. Gearbox holds about 2 1/4 gallons. The gearbox is seperate from the back axle oil.

    Hope shes a good one.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
