    Hi guys,

Does anyone know what the Castle Gardens estate in Bunratty is like to live in? It used to be holiday homes when the Shannon Shamrock hotel was open but now the houses are being rented out. I'm just wondering what the area is like in terms of safety, etc.

Any advice or info at all would be helpful - thanks!

I went to view three houses there last year they were fine. I chose not to live there as I have a family and there were only two other families living there at the time. All of the houses are rented out to students of the Hotel Catering College in Shannon or as holiday homes. The rent is approx 550 p/m including refuse and Ntl channels and broadband. That was the tempting bit.

I know a few people living there and they've no complaints. The only problem I can see with renting one of these homes would be the presence of the Hotel Management students. About 50% of these houses are allocated to them...and you know what students are like ;)

If you are viewing the place ask the estate agent about this, and you could also use this as leverage to bring the rent down.

In fairness I think the hotel students are not like normal college students, its a small private hotel school with high standards, so complaints about student behaviour would be treated a lot different to somewhere like UL.

Thanks for the advice folks! We met another estate agent since who gave us the full lowdown on the place which is pretty much what you have said re the students and so on. Thanks for confirming it though, much appreciated. :)
