Hey all, time for me to invest in a new computer! I was just going to buy a branded machine, but I'm moving into a new house next week so can't afford to splash out on everything at once, so I'm going to buy here and there!

    1. What is your budget? Probably in and around £800 could probably push more since I'm buying over a few months

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? web design / development, video editing, gaming (Minecraft, MW3, GTA4 etc) also I will be adding a Black Magic Intensity Pro to it as well for live streaming of games.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? N/A

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? yes - harddrive, dvd drive, PSU maybe..

    5. Do you need a monitor? 2 new ones coming Friday

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 2 monitors will be 1920 * 1080 no plans to upgrade

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? N/A

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? sure am!

    8. How can you pay? Any method needed - visa, paypal

    9. When are you purchasing? I'm going to buy bits over the next few months.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? N/A

Building your own is cheaper and nearly always twice as good as a branded PC.
Quick question, do you mean pounds or euros there? I'm assuming pounds as your from the North.

Well I was looking at spending £800 (yes pounds sterling) on a Dell XPS8300, but due to the house move, and always wanting to build my own machine I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

I'm no stranger when it comes to adding parts to a computer, but when it comes down to actually picking the parts for myself to a build a machine, I've no idea where to start.

How's this look? I threw in a new PSU anyway. What model is yours? Might be able to take out the PSU and put the money into a good cooler.
