Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Criteria you'd use when buying a bull

What are the top criteria you would use when buying a bull?

How much, if at all, would your decision be influenced by euro star and BLUP indices?

    1. If i didn't like the look of a bull, I wouldn't buy him - I look at his height, bone thickness (especially at start of tail), quality of feet, quality of hair, muscle (especially end muscle), fat (I won't buy an over fed bull, but an under fed bull is hard to judge).

    2. More recently, I will follow euro start traits for SBV, ease of calving and milk. I wouldn't care if he wasn't Blup tested.

    • Size
    • shape
    • feet and legs
    • balls:pac:
Then I'd run his tag number through icbf to see if any low figures showed up. Normally I am buying a bull to breed daughters off so fertility is important for me.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
