Is this illustration or animation?

Hi,

I was trying to research what is the future for illustration and I came across this youtube video for the ipad.

I'm just wondering if 'those in the know' would regard what you see in the video as illustration or animation?

And what program would be used to get movement in the characters and the objects?

They are semi-animated illustrations.

Do you know what progams would be used to create this?

I presume, maybe starting with traditional media then some photoshop but I don't know where the animation part comes in.

Hey you might be interested in this http://www.nawlz.com/ its an interactive comic, I stumbled across it awhile ago. Its a pretty cool mix of stuff in it, I'm not sure of the details and stuff behind it though I just enjoyed the whole concept of the thing.

Hey thanks, yeah, I checked it out, I like the illustrations and the mood it sets but I haven't a clue what is going on...it's a bit out there!

But yeah, the idea is similar to the Alice on the Ipad, i'm still wondering what program is used to get the movement into the illustration.

xcode: http://developer.apple.com/technologies/tools/ for a start. By the way that app was developed by disney and cost zillions to produce, it is a bit out there as it took a huge team of producers and programmers to produce it. In that respect it is 'out there' as it is due to the affordable driver that is the disney corp.
