Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My photo on another's website.....with a twist

I found a photo of mine on a Costa Rican football website.

The thing is, they haven't uploaded it to their website, they've just linked it directly from my site.

So, I can replace the file with whatever I want, and it will display on their site for everyone else to see.

Anyone got any ideas? It's not worth my while chasing them for payment, so may as well just have some fun with it.

    Yep.

Rename your files, and put new files in their place, and those will display on their site. :D

I'm pretty sure the OP knew that.

A giant cock seems to be standard fare.

Many hosting control panels allow you to prevent hotlinking.
You could put an image like the ones below in place of your pics...

    no_hotlink.gif

I would put something along the lines of "This image was hotlinked without permission of the copyright holder." Nothing more effective than bit of public embarrassment .

Screw that, find out who beat them last and put a message of congratulations to them in there.

Something like this happened to me ages ago. Except they stole the HTML from a page of mine, which included a call to a tracking pixel I had on it. So suddenly my site's stats had a load of hits on their page recorded. I emailed them politely, and pointed out that they shouldn't have stolen my code, that my stats were getting skewed by them having my tracking pixel on their site, and to please at least edit the page to remove the tracking code.

They replied with a really snotty mail, saying that they did nothing wrong, and that I shouldn't be tracking visitors on their site. So I gave them fair warning that I since I hosted the tracking pixel, I could change it to whatever I wanted - but all I got was another snotty reply from them.

So, I changed the pixel to an 800x800 px image of a boner that would break glass. (obviously, I renamed the corresponding image on my site first)

Next morning I had a hysterical mail from them accusing me of hacking their site, and saying that they'd call the police. I told them to go ahead, and stop leeching my image, and to delete the code they stole from me. A couple of days later, the page came down.

So yeah, a cock is the obvious choice. But I was young and not so subtle then. There might be something better you could do. But I can't really think of anything really appropriate to a Costa Rican football site off the top of my head.

I've used cock images in the past but for that one I'd just manipulate the image that's already there. I'd make the body of the footballer naked.

    Reminds me of this:

BTW you'll need copyright for the cock image...

May I suggest a little subtlety?

A 10 second animated gif consisting of 9.75 seconds of the original image and 0.25 seconds of Midget porn.

You could do what this bloke did: http://ascii.textfiles.com/archives/1011

    tl/dr

Bloke did nice graphic of the Grim Reaper. Some MySpace theme company used it in their theme templates but hotlinking directly to the image on said blokes server. Like the OP not only do they rob the image, but also the bandwidth. The theme gets very popular and bloke notices this as his bandwidth allowance is being hammered. So he replaces the original image with the goatse (disgusting image, VNSFW, careful if you search for it, what you see can not be undone). Cue almighty uproar and laughs.

A bit or research should reveal who are their rival club.

Then just put up an image supporting their rivals.

Most who follow football like looking at male genitalia. ;-)
