    Hi,

a Dublin based production company is working on a video to highlight the flare of the Irish capital. Our aim is to have a short piece that shows the beautiful cityscapes that we all know and love mixed in with the more human aspect of the city that tourists can't see in a brochure.

We're looking for ideas from people who know the city inside and out; things like skateboarding, feeding the homeless at night, bodyart centres etc. Anything and everything that is visual and/or normally overlooked is a welcome idea.

Our small city has a much more complex and diverse identity that what's seen around the world on St. Patrick's Day, so why not explore it and show it off!?

As an added incentive, the person who provides the best idea will appear in the video as well.

Thank you to everyone in advance!

    Brian Raftery

I'd cover the rowing regattas in Ringsend. Serious athletes, colourful language, colourful characters, agro, noise, colour, serious competition (with personal grudges). They hang lines from the East Link Bridge and the cox holds the line, the oarsmen keep the boat steady with commands from the cox. The start steward shouts what boats are to back paddle etc.. once the gun goes, they are off down river, out the mouth and over the horizon.

The boats are Irish built clinker boats, Ringsend, Bray, East Wall, Greystones, Dalkey, Dun laoghaire, Dollymount, Wicklow and other parts of the East coast are represented. They evolved from local oarsmen rowing out to deep draft square rigged sailing boats to collect people and luggage when Dublin bay wasn't dredged.
