Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Give people who are currently unable to get a mortgage a house which has never been occupied.Asses how many houses and people that can be matched up.

Take the buyers of the past few years who are up to their neck in negative equity, remove as much negative equity from the cost and place it on the people that received a house for "free".
In a perfect world(my mind) there may be some sort of solution to empty houses and super inflated house prices.Kinda spreading out the cost among many instead of a few.

Knocking unused homes down is just not right.

Ya see what would happen then is a LOT of people would try to sell their houses so that they can buy one of these new houses, that would create even more negative equity as there would be an oversupply in the market.

What should be done is these ghost estates should be completed, where economically viable, and discounted to say 50% to owner occupiers with a clause that if these houses are ever sold it will trigger a clawback mechanism for the additional 50% of the estimated value of the home. I.e. if the house appreciates in value the sum of the appreciation is repayable to the state upon completion of the sale.

They have zero desire to give away free houses to people that they think are able to buy at some point.

In fact, they seem to think are economy should be based around the sale of houses, the ****ing gob****es.

If we fed homeless people to the starving then we'd solve 2 problems at once

The new never lived in houses would be designated for people that never previously held a mortgage before but are tying to get on the ladder, and banks will not have to lend any cash over in loans.
The idea is to relieve negative equity on the heads of the current new home owner so as most have houses and the banks arent being handed keys back.

But as rigger said the greedy ****s prob will not let reason get in the way of fairness.

Sure then you'd be solving problems. That's not how the system works. By design.

Best solution is the buy all the empty houses and burn them.
