Media player with harddrive

I'm looking to get a media player for my brother for christmas since i got him for KK.

Looking to get a fairly cheap one with a harddrive. 1Tb would be nice. Budget is about €100 or so so I'm fairly flexible on that i think.

Any input for models etc would be much appreciated.
Looming online, i think i might struggle to get a decent one a price point close to mine.
Would it be worth getting just the media streamer and maybe a large harddrive later down the line. He has a couple of external harddrives that he could us with it if that was to be the case.

If he has storage already I'd suggest looking at WD TV range,as they can stream from anywhere on the same network. I have the WD TV Live, which is an older model now, but under €100 and plays everything I throw at it with no fuss.

I think this is the latest version, which now has WiFi.

If you do go with the streamer only option, I've had the AC Ryan Playon HD Mini for a year or so now and I couldn't fault it. I like the idea of keeping the media player and hard disks seperate anyway - hard disks fail, and if you have an integrated solution, then you're screwed.

But you can still plug in another harddrive into them even if the internal drive fails, no?
Having the drive inside would be a convenience thing.

Em, But you'd be doing that anyway by keeping the media player and the drive separate.
