Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi ya.

does anyone have any idea about the new changes in the DAS which is going to see 20000 framers cut from the system next year. My specfic concern is in relation to the change in number of sheep per hectare rule. How many sheep per hectare does a farmer need now? How is this calculated. are Ewe lambs, rams and hoggets included??? just a bit worried that i could be on the limit...... is it too late to buy some in or are they taken the numbers based on the 2011 payment???

    thanks

Two ewes per hectare as far as I am aware, also have to be kept for min 6 months of the year instead of three. So if you only have sheep and farm 50 hectares you'd need 100 sheep for min six months of the year, that's my understanding anyway.

That link seems quite old, I am not sure whether it's been changed or remains the same TBH.

If you are under the limit, you'll get a letter asking you to give the reason as to why you are (comes around September/October time if I remember right) - like a REPS/AEOS plan limiting your numbers and you'll need to return that along with your flock register.

I am not sure whether any other reasons will do or not, perhaps destocking may, best to ask people in the know.

.................but tis too late to get them now, as 2012 DAS payment will be made only if you had the new stocking limits in 2011, as well as 2012. Very unfair to the poorer smaller farmers.
