Does anyone know or has anyone done - hooked up a SATA/USB bridge from an external 2.5 drive enclosure to a 3.5 desktop drive to connect it via USB?
I know you couldn't do it with IDE drives as you needed an extra power feed for the desktop drive, but seeing as 2.5 and 3.5 SATA drives have the same connectors, I was wondering if it would work. Anyone know?

2.5" HDDs only use the 5V supply. 3.5" use both the 5V and 12V simultaneously.

So your 2.5" external enclosure won't work.
