Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I'm looking for any ideas on a location for a stag in July/August. Defo has to be in Ireland and probably anywhere from the midlands south.

Just want semi-decent accom, B&B etc, maybe throw in an activity or two (not essential as some lads wont do them anyway). Want to kinda stay away from the citys. A good drinking country town with a handy few pubs and a night club. Just a crowd of school and college mates going on a session like the old days...

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks :D:D

Try Carrick on Shannon, the stag capital of Leitrim!!

I went on a stag there and we hired a couple of boats for the weekend and spent two of the nights in Carrick, it is a great place with a decent number of pubs and a couple of good clubs.

If your going up Leitrim direction id give this a go for an activity

Some friends done it on a stag and said its amazing. Its like the crystal maze. Teams of three work together.
I'm hoping to do it soon.

Mullingar, a lot of people I know have gone down there for stags, lots of night life, nice hotel cheap nuff Annebrook, got paintballing and adventure places and other stag related activities but the handiest thing about it is it's an hour on the train but its central so where ever someone's traveling from its not too far hopefully.

Swear ta god I'm not being paid by the town of Mullingar its just a grand spot for them and a good location.

ha-ha look i was just helping the guy out and recommending where he should go good deeds with it being christmas time... :D
you go to some many places now on a nigh-out in ireland nightclub staff are stuck up & bar staff won't chat or take glasses too quickly,

i was out in sligo the other week , a female member of staff-bar took so
long purposely to serve me and wouldn't even look at me when she handed me back my change......

I felt like walking out the place ,,, and coyotes staff were really nice to us
and one of the girls in the office really helped me . so i thought i would mention the place.

    well.....
one massive negative about Galway for a stag is the price and restrictions of accomodation options.

I was looking into having my stag there a couple of years back and it was a minimum of 2 nights and at that an awful price for anything that wasnt a hostel.

Ended up just going to Dublin for various reasons, not least because the other options were poor and having mates in all corners of Ireland it couldnt be too far north or south and Dublin is damn handy to get to from Ireland and abroad.

Did the Guinness storehouse and Jameson museum before going for grub and pints galore. Worked out grand at the end of it all.

now that I've thought about it, I'm probably going to be at a stag in the summer which is lookin like being letterkenny.

Theres a hotel there that is doing 2 nights bed + breakfast in a hotel + 1 group dinner + an activity + half price night club admission and some other goodies for €129 a head
The first place that popped up was this place when I googled so I presume that where im going!

I cant remember much about the nightlife the last time I was up in Letterkenny, so maybe thats a sign that its not a quiet town!!

www.mycarrick.ie - gives details of accommodation, eats, pubs & clubs plus events and activities.

There is paintballing in Battlebridge (less than ten minutes from the town - local taxis do good deals for groups)
Lough Key is fantastic with Boda Borg as TankGuy rightly said. Also available is Zipit - mad craic just google it or check out their facebook page.

Have a brilliant time. I work in Carrick and am proud to promote my adopted town

Was in Coyotes one night on a stag (his choice - a concession girl dragged him in, the rest of us just went with it) maybe it was that one night in particular, (I doubt it though) but seemed to be a mecca for (I'm avoiding using degrading terminology here btw) a "rough crowd". 18 years old-ish, and kinda looked like they couldn't get in elsewhere. Jacks is a trek down stairs. Girls dancing on the counter doesn't even save it. Never again.

I recently had to organise a stag for a good friend of mine.

There are some great ideas on loads of websites so google is your friend in this case.

I ended up deciding on K2 in Killary harbour.

It was very good value, and like you there were lads who could'nt/would'nt do the activities.
    I booked through Irishstagesandhens.ie.

The initial price for a weekend was 140 per person.

But on boolking with a group of 10 the price per person was dropped to 120.

We arrived on the Friday night from Cork/Dublin/Edinburgh and got sorted with rooms. Then had a few beers in the Bar onsite before they organised a cab to bring us to Leenane to a local pub where we spent rest of the evening. The cab picked us up again at 1:00.

We got a full Irish breakfast the next day and a full day of activities. Rock Climbing and an assault course in the morning, lunch of soup and sambos and laser tag and raft building/racing in the afternoon.

    It was great craic all-together.

That evening we got a minibus to bring us to westport (drop off and pick up included in the price for the weekend) we went to a lovely Itialian and then did a lap of the towns bars before going to a club. And we were picked up at 2:30 and brough back.

A full Irish was provided again on the suday and a bit later in the morning to cater for the sore heads and we all headed off back home after that.

I could not recommend more highly the K2 adventure centre, they are great craic and I think are genuinely happy to see you arrive. and for 120 each for a full weekend with meals and transport to and from westport it was a great deal.

I think there are other centres providing similar deals too and if there is a group of you then the price goes down.

I also was at a stag in Kilkenny last year, we went Carting and then had a nice meal in the city before going out on the town. Good town but there were lots of stags there the same weekend and I found some of the pubs security were worn out from dealing with messy stags and did not want to let lots of people in but that was just one weekend.

Anyway best of luck with it where ever ye end up :-)
