It's not a bad device although it doesn't have 3G so it's speed over the network isn't that fast when web browsing. It's perfect for wifi access. Email and social networking will be easy on it too. If you can the 9300 would be a better device (although it's more expensive) if 3G speed is important to you. Otherwise if you like to email and use social networks with a full keyboard then it's a good device.

Thanks very much for the information. Yeah I would mainly be using it for email and social networking.

How much is the 9300 do you know ?

I got one for my GF a few months back and after 2-3 weeks it started to freeze when a sms/mms would come through. Have to pull the battery each time to sort it. Same is happening to other people I know with it. Wouldn't recommend it myself.

Yakult, an OS upgrade might fix that problem. What version is she running?
To find out the version on the home screen hold down alt and press EACE
    Post the app version

    http://www.freemyblackberry.com

I've always used this site to unlock my devices. Works perfectly and I've used both the free and expedited service. Very happy with it.

does it take long and would it be worth paying for it and getting it done in 20 minutes ?

Expedited take less then 20mins and free takes about 24hrs. It's up to you how quick you want/need it.
