    Don't think you can buy 1 month anymore, 3 is the minimum I think. Subs can be got on line for about 35-40 euro for a year. I think in the shops they are about 45 and 15-20 for a 3 month one.

    I picked up a 3 month sub for £15 in Derry, it costs £35 for a year there too.

    amazon do 12 months for £29.99 (approx €35)
    you could also buy 3 months + 2100 points off them for similar price

    you can usually get good value here too once you have paypal

    Forgive the ignorance please, but what advantages does GOLD give over the freebee? I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference.

    Well you can't play the majority of online multiplayer games (Call of Duty, Battlefield etc.) without Gold.

    From my own experience, it's better and cheaper to buy year subscriptions online, and not directly from xbox themselves. Plus xbox will hang onto your creditcard data and automatically renew your membership unless you phone them and instruct them not to do so.

    It allows you to play multiplayer games online.
    You get access to the Deals of the Week for selected XBox Live Arcade games and content. These usually range from 33-66% off.
    You gain access to certain Gold sub only applications such as SkyPlayer.
