One of the reasons for her position, a FG TD once told me she was a ride and a fair few of them were of that opinion(not like she has much competition in the Dail). She strikes me as the sort that would play up to that and also not afraid to hang you at a moments notice to maintain her career. Every large office has a Lucinda.

yeah it's because she's a young blonde, nothing to do with the fact she has a law degree from NUI and is also a qualified Attorney in the States. Every large office does not contain a high achieving workaholic like that, but they do contain lads who talk a lot of ****e around the coffee machine about who they'd ride in order to sound more macho. And good enough if she'd screw someone over in her own party, that's the exact opposite of the back-scratching nature of parish pump politics. We had someone who was likeable and kept everyone happy and did 'deals' - his name was Bertie Aherne.

The fact of her degree in International Relations and New York and Irish Bar membership actually stood against her when I was confronted by her breathtaking brass neck. How could anyone that highly qualified appear so ignorant? It could have been calculated of course - but she was plain wrong in what she asserted.

Or, as someone else in the audience at the event I attended asked her:

    Q. 'Ms. Creighton, you said that Ireland was a vocal critic of colonialism and defender of small countries. Can you name a single country which Ireland gave assistance to in Africa since the 1950s?'

    A. 'I'm afraid that was before my time. Sorry!'

The Congo, Lucinda. Our first UN peacekeeping operation ... Irish Aid, Chad since 2008 ... anything Lucinda? Anything that demonstrates a knowledge of Irish Foreign Policy?

Wow great CV, lawyer such a trust worthy profession to be a member of. Has she actually practiced and had real world experience or does she just collect qualifications? No matter how qualified she is Lucinda has a serious PR problem that she comes over as arrogant,non-informed, with poor understanding of her brief and uncaring. Speaking as a Europhile I think FG should change the Euro Minister if they have to gain support for a referemdum because Lucinda is so flawed in the eyes of many.

If we're having a referendum next year, and if it contains the type of things I think it would contain, I will really want it to fail! So I hope FG/LAB put Lucinda in front of the cameras as THE leading compaigner for a 'Yes' vote - then it's sure to fail!

I don't know how anyone could have any trust whatsoever in a single thing she says!
