Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is that not the standard Vectra that's actually an Opel except the rear boot?

Oh my days, i knew i heard someone mention that about the vectra but i should have known it was something like that, such innovative organisation lol

Actually always wondered about this, should police vehicles never have engine size or models marked on them? If a criminal is unsure of how much horsepower the vehicle has, they maybe less like to run?
Or is this just wishful thinking on my part? lol
Also for security best to keep as information about official vehicles under wraps?

Everyone knows they family cars, if someone going to take off they will take off! Criminals are stupid

I think they should have callsigns on them but the way the fleets is moves around they would be pointless

Wouldn't mind seen anpr cars have extra markings like in the uk

The unmarked i40 read blues are very hard to see at night. I Was on the motorway tonight and they had a car pulled, the rear blue lights are not very noticable. Seems a bit dangerous.

I think the best thing might be to install the rear blue from the rear screen.

It's either chalk or cheese, some of the marked i30/40's have lights all over the show while the unmarked one have lights buried in the rear indicators that are hardly visible when on. Like the Astras a while back with the 'milky white' rear indicators, couldn't see the blues behind them :(

Basically it's a bit like the lighthouse effect, the light has to be at the right angle to the reflector in order for it to put out enough lumens, if it's not positioned properly then the light source is only like a candle

As I said, The best option is discreet leds surrounding the rear screen with a little message board. Your average person wold never notice until it's light up

If a gouger wants to run they'll run. Look at the amount of chases involving sh1t boxes!

I would second that, there was a chase on the m50 which started at ashbourne/finglas road went via ballymun then into santry not so long ago.
The unmarked unit was a specialist pursuit unit only see them on dual carriageways and motorways extremely powerful patrol car, even to look at but they still took off regardless of type of patrol car.
No matter what information the gou's have on the patrol car they will still "take the chase"

I suppose the fact that the Army ordered a load of them had some influence  Going back to an earlier post of mine I think there's some examples of nearly every type of car in the fleet.

Driving up the malahide road and dark metal grey Outlander 2007 model was bluing it passed Cadberrys and then on through the junction (towards kilbarrack)
LEDs All over it and rear upper and lower boot door. Was thinking SDU straight away.
Very unexpected i never seen one of those, marked unit did a U turn and either went after it or was assisting. I think the look on the observers face was a bit odd and funny it was a like (we don't drive those) lol Very similar looking to Forrester

Saw 2 of the new BMW 530s the other day nice with blues on

Maybe it WAS a fake, or more likely Fire officer (heading towards Kilbarrack) because if it was 07 it would have been spotted long ago - the PSNI seemed to like them for a while but there was an incident so maybe they got rid of them. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/inquest-told-of-last-ditch-bids-to-save-psni-officers-from-vehicle-fire-30722701.html
Questions were raised over the safety training of officers and the use of certain vehicles.

Coroner Suzanne Anderson heard that Shoguns are not supposed to be used in an emergency as a first response vehicle and that the PSNI had an order in place that they should not be driven in excess of 60 miles per hour.

Evidence questioning the possibility that the vehicle's escape hatch at the rear could have been used by the officers due to the storage of their police kit in the boot was also heard.

These lot sell most of the PSNI stuff

    not RSU anyway

    ERU SDU and OCU

I think most of the unmarked fleet could do with a similar setup for safety reasons alone. The blue light in the brake light isn't great on a bright day.

Obviously, Cars attached to the more discreet untis could do without.

They seem to be, my local traffic in Mallow has a unmarked mondeo fitted with big LED'S on the rear headrests.

A lot easier to fit and wire up lighting inside the windows than drilling light units etc.

Just seen 161 i40 'Eastern Regional Communication ...... (DFB)?

Lads on traffic wanted extra lights when they got it so that was done, the lighting was very poor at night when you pull car over

All this talk of LED this or dashmaster that, just go back old school with the rotating tin of beans. Sure the health and safety people would faint, but you can't get more discreet than throwing into the glovebox when not needed.

Pretty sure that car is still in Pearse Street (with a dashmaster!).

Apparently those lights aren't great at staying put when you're driving at speed.

Yup that car is the green goddess Corolla. That car doesn't have the the space for the wiring for dashmaster everything is crammed behind the stock radio port as it is. The bucket wire goes across the A panel on the door
    Tis a funny little car

Corolla, best most reliable car in the world.

Saw a 08 Mondeo this morning with red/blue strobes in the rear indicators , not bad but not as visual as the front ones in the grille - surely there's H&S (this IS Ireland !) issues with weak lighting 'endangering' members by not being bright enough during a traffic stop :(

BRIGHT strobes hidden behind the windows -
Sho-Me LED lightbar red w/white strobes, dual head red/white dash light, Whelen dash master strobes in side rear windows, mini phantom max rear deck light, 3 head interior LEDs on visor and in rear door windows.

3.35 on, notice the 'visability' of the two different types of lights , the upper one stands out more than the dull bottom ones

Capri, the "neon" strobe you referring to, is that the white drl's? They'd be strobing due to the camera.
