    Like,
If you hadn't found any tapes in the hospital would we have known that Joel lied to Ellie at the end

Or am I just confused :o
I think Joel was told she would die and she was their best hope at the beginning of that chapter.

Don't know who else here has played Enslaved, but Bill reminded me a bit of Pigsy.

The biggest mystery of the game has to be
how does she know how to drive yet doesn't know how to swim.

I disagree. Personally I would love to see
the return of Joel and Ellie. I finished the game yesterday and I was impressed, but don't get why they shouldn't bring these characters back at some point. I feel the ending was left wide open and had very little in the way of finality. There is room to finish off the story there. I think I will play through it again but I wasn't a fan of the ending at all. I was a bit "eh, is that it?".
I would be pretty turned off if they continued Joel and Ellie's story. The story had a fantastic ending, it wasn't crystal clear what's going to happen next and that's not in any way a bad thing. I honestly feel like making another game of "and then this happened" would retroactively spoil the story a bit for me because the ambiguity was what made me like it so much.

Also I simply don't want a sequel because after seeing what impressive and exciting things Naughty Dog managed to do with a new IP, I would love to see them go ahead and come up with something brand new again. The strong sales of the game after just a few weeks shows that they have the brand power to get excellent sales without even resorting to churning out sequels like many devs have to. The Last of Us was so great imo because I hadn't played anything like it before, that won't be the case if they make a sequel since the gameplay is bound to be largely the same.
I felt there was some homoerotic vibes going on between Bill and his mate, but maybe that probably says more about me than it doe about Bill lol

No, I think that was right. Bill was clearly gay, he didn't keep that stash of gay porn for the articles :p So I could easily imagine someone he so genuinely loved being an actual lover.

Well if we hadn't found the tapes, we would still know that Joel was pulling his "there are loads like you, they stopped looking for a cure" BS out of his ass because there was nothing at all to indicate that that was true.

Yeah but you don't live in a post apocalyptic world as a 14 year old girl where people have trouble getting access to a car.

    Or do you?

She was at a military academy thing in The QZ though wasnt she? Maybe they taught how to drive there?

Because I have the attention span of a flea I have never EVER watched cut scenes in games. Even where you couldn't skip them I'd go off and do something else. Haven't skipped any of the cut scenes here. Also exploring all over the place where I generally rush through singleplayers desperate to get to the end.

The car they spend the most time in is the one the get in Bill's town. That's definitely a manual as Ellie and Bill argue over how she knows how to "pop the clutch". Automatics don't have clutch pedals. They have torque converters.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Yeah your right I remember the line about popping the clutch alright.

Just finished it, awesome game. Dunno what to do with myself now :(

    my thoughts on the story,
its a brilliant story all the way through, but im slightly disappointed with the ending although i did suspect that it would happen that way. he just couldnt look at the bigger picture. suppose maybe he thought that there was only a small chance that they would actually find a cure. im pretty glad ellie didnt die tho, loved her character, and joel too.

i imagine there will be a sequel, they have set it up for it anyway and if there is she will defo find out the truth which she probably wont be happy about.

Is the online multiplayer worth playing? not a big online gamer but wudnt mind trying it if its good.

Yes but only with a group of friends. You go in solo you could find it hard! I really like the MP so far.

It can be......frustrating. The sad fact is that it's a lot like recent FPS multiplayer. The longer you play, they give you better guns and "perks". They make a big difference.

It's a level up system designed to keep you playing but it doesn't matter how skilled you are, level 50 guys are going to completely slaughter you because they have better stuff.

It helps that the cut scenes are better written, directed, acted and edited than most films of the genre.

I can see Neil Druckmann going to Hollywood someday, I hope that doesn't happen though.

Have to disagree with this. The game is wonderfully balanced imo. The better stuff is only marginally better as it usually costs an extra 2 LP so its about picking a class that suits your playing style.
The strong weapons i.e. Assault rifle and Shotgun cost 3 LP AND a significant amount of ingame parts to buy too.

My mate only started playing yesterday and faired well with high level opponents sometimes and other times they slaughtered him. Usually the slaughtering coincides with the lads on the opposite team having mics or simply being better tactically. When we partied up with 3 mics and one random I think we lost like once or twice max. Teamwork is key.

Yeah I think the blancing on MP is ok. Find once you get the silencer on y'er main gun you're good to go. Semi-auto Rifle for me although once I get the supressor on the three burst rifle I'll make a class for that as well.

The perk system works imo because you can't really stack the high powered ones together. Look at some of the perk systems on COD for example can give you a huge boost.

The main thing I concentrate on is ensuring I have armour as much as possible - it's a massive advantage.

Ok, so in the escape the city section with Henry and Sam, the objective is to sneak past the night shift guards protecting the gate that leads to the bridge, the exit from the city.
I only noticed this during my third playthrough, why is a bridge with a massive hole in it so heavily protected?! Its not like anybody can cross it anyways!

Was thinking that myself. I think the second lane is just blocked by cars and the other lane (which you are in) has a hole in it. Open to correction mind you.

Henry and Sam crossed it somehow. I doubt they had to go the route that Joel and Ellie did so there must have been some way across.

Was it not a 2 tier bridge?? I thought it was.

The multiplayer is good, but can be very very frustrating. Especially when up close and your shooting the enemy but he just takes out his mellee weapon and bang your dead!

When I started it I thought it was good but couldn't understand what all the fuss was about by the end I couldn't understand why there hadn't been more fuss. :)

Singleplayer is awesome. The story just clicked for me.

I did at first, but quickly learned to play fine without it.

    Aaargh, was stuck in the
hotel basement for half an hour lastnight trying to find the way out, looked it up on youtube eventually only to see my game had glitched. None of the zombies spawned nor did the keycard I needed to get out!!
Loving the game so far though.

    I envy you, it's wonderful.

This is going to get a guaranteed sequel right? Even if it's not the same characters.
