Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

All I want is a box that has:-

    SaorView (Full support)
    Freesat (with full EPG)
    RTE Player, TV3 player
    BBC Player, ITV Player etc.
    Youtube, Dailymotion etc.
    Netflix

    Not asking for much.

    Yes it is.

Ireland is a tiny market so the Saorview requirement is rather specialised.

Netflix has only just been made available in this market, so hardly time to manufacture a product and get it to market

BBC iPlayer requires you have a UK IP address, last time I looked, so the box would have to work through a UK proxy. No doubt you would expect that for free.

If RTE player requires an Irish IP address, it would have to not use the UK proxy for that.

I know, but it would be nice. I'll settle for:-

    Irish digital (without MHEG5)
Freesat (with only now and next EPG)
BBC Player, ITV Player etc. (using monthly subscribtion to proxy service)
    Youtube, Dailymotion etc.
Netflix with USA content (using monthly subscribtion to proxy service)

    All on the one box.

I have tried 'Unblock US' service on my PC and it works well. If you want to access UK content (BBC, ITV etc) it uses a UK IP address, for Netflix it uses US addresses. It also lets you use the Players on the US networks like ABC and NBC. It is all automatic.

From what I understand you could watch about 100 hours per month comfortably on that kind of data allowance.

Sorry but you seem way off the mark there. They have a 20GB allowance in total wich would probably get you 30 hours maximum on SD streams.

Data which I have directly from Verizon Wireless, the data consumption for 100 hours of youtube/sd video/skype is approximately 5 gigabytes.

Sorry Overheal, but you are way off the mark, even at it's lowest quality Netflix uses 0.3GB per hour giving you 50 hours absolute maximum on a 15GB cap with no other traffic or usage. Do the maths. Also bandwidth caps are combined upload and download and as Netflix is a tcp connection, packets send acknowledgments before more packets are sent you will get much less than this. Netflix eats bandwidth caps for breakfast. 15GB is a pittance.
    Your Account & Help
    Manage video quality
We know that some of you have internet data caps and we want to make it easier for you to manage how much data you use.
We offer 3 video quality settings to help you manage your data usage. No matter what level you choose, your Netflix membership price will remain the same.

Good quality (up to 0.3 GB per hour)
Better quality (up to 0.7 GB per hour)
Best quality (up to 1 GB per hour, or up to 2.3 GB per hour for HD)

Anybody still having trouble getting the netflix app on the PS3 , follow this , I couldnt get it until this morning , followed this procedure and bingo ... works a charm.

    http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-Media/Unlocking-TV-And-Film-Apps-Icons-To-Download-The-Apps-Or/td-p/14698097

Basically , create are new user , not PSID , just a new user on the console.

Scroll across to the PS Store and press it ,

Fill out the box , dont forget to put in Ireland and make sure the age is over 18

    Go into the Store

    Leave the Store

Log out of the new user profile you created
Log back in to the new user profile you created

Wait for the whats new section to load

Scroll over to the video section

Netflix icon should be there , click on it to load the app

It'll probably kick you out because your not on the PS network , thats OK , just exit out of the app,

Log out of the new user profile you created

    Log back in as yourself

Netflix icon will be there , log in and enjoy !

I see this device mentioned in yesterdays Irish Times, the HMP2000 from Philips. Seems like a good alternative to the Roku and it has Youtube as well. Look's like a straight forward device at an OK price (70 Euro or so).
