Dunno. I'm with airtricity, so I pay a fixed amount per month, currently about €55. That's just the 40L and the 20L though, the 120L is only running about 3 weeks, put I think my price is fixed for a year.

I really don't know and TBH, I don't want to find out either just in case my OH gets wind of it and I'll be in the same situation as yours. What you don't know can't hurt you .

This has been well doccumented here allready,as theres a thread about it.

    Searching for it will help.

Oh and for the record 17 euro a month to run a 500 litre Discuss tank

    I x Eheim external filter
    2 x T5 5 foot tube lights
    2 x Elite 300 watt heaters
    1 x Pro Flora M603 Digital CO2 injection system

Ya it did help, should have done that first.

How is your bill so cheap?
I cant understand how my bill went up by 100 euro after I got the tank and its smaller than yours.

Its all timed to run for a certain amount of hours each day (to suit the tank size, plant stock and fish stock too),plus I have a good deal with the ESB.:)

Its also to do with the power that the actual units use to work.We went for more energy efiecent units.

I saw a fantastic idea on irishfishkeepers.com. This woman had gone and got fish/anemones from rock pools by the coast of Ireland - got a full marine tank up and running with these fish and other plants/animals and the this tank did not need any heating! Looked great too, different from all the bright colours we are used to seeing in marine tanks, but really lovely.

Very clever idea... presumably you could do water changes by getting fresh sea-water too...

We are about to do a 2nd tank,a marine tank setup aswell now.

I rekon it will be more costly with regards power cosumption that the Discuss tank is costing us.
