Has anyone taken an elective in portuguese? I'd be interested in picking it up but ive heard rumours that its fairly hard?

It's the hardest of the 'Romance' languages to learn by a long, long way. Unless you're interested in moving to Portugal or Brazil, Spanish is an easier option.

thanks for the reply.. Yea ill be taking on japanese in second semester and was just wondering what portugese would be like. Like its where we go every year on holidays and its in the EU.. never know where i might end up

Youre actually a sado.. im having the craic in ucd delighted i didnt get trinity because id have to study like mad at summer time for modules that you do before christmas.. enjoy that! now go back to your birds..

I'm studying Portuguese and it's not very difficult. Spanish may be easier in reading and writing, but the Portuguese talk much slower so it's easier to pick up the hearing.
