Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insurance Assessors ?

I had dealing some months back with an assessor and after a bit of horse trading he agreed to repair my car as opposed to the write-off he was looking at first - seemed a reasonable guy.
Just wondering are assessors qualified mechanics / panel beaters who know a bit about insurance or are they insurance experts that know a bit about cars ?
Just curious as to their general background and training ?

We had one in our garage who wanted to write off a 06 or 07 BMW 520d which got wet in the floods.now I was tasked with the job of striping this car out and checken the engine and so on.so the assessor wanted to write this off.turns out the carpet was no wetter the after a valet.and I fitted two parts to the car 1 was a new airmass meter and second was a passenger wheel baring which needed changing as I'd say the car was left sitting in water for a bit.so parts it prob cost in the region of 300e on parts and the car is 100percent again.but yet the insurance assessor wanted to write this off.now that's bad work in my mind.thats the reason all our car insurences are so dear.thats just my two cents worth.
