Going to pick up a pair of Power Perfects I think

  • Registered Users Posts: 372 ✭✭johnybean

Has anyone here any experience of the powerlift 2.0 shoes, have a 20% discount code for main adidas online shop and these are the only ones available on adidas.ie. I have never owned a pair of oly shoes and would only be using them for bb squats and OH squats and stuff at home. I would be getting them for about 60 quid, would I be better off just forking the extra cash for the power perfects?

They're more a crossfit shoe and wouldn't have as solid a sole.

Depends how much squatting you plan on doing but I'd be inclined to get on to D8 Fitness by the 30th and get yourself Power Perfects for €85 if you're going to be squatting regularly.

Thanks for that Alf, think that's why I'll do

So apparently the sale ends tonight at midnight. It seems a few people are getting power perfect 2's a shoe size smaller than their regular footwear size. I need to order these for delivery as I'm not in the country for a few weeks so should I get a smaller size or go with my regular size?

I'd say go with your regular shoe size. I am a size 10 and when I got my PP2 I ordered a size 10.5 to be safe. I had a good bit of room in the front so a 10 would've been perfect fit I reckon.

My Adidas runners would be size 11 but the PP2s are 10 and fit nicely (tightly). You want them tighter than normal footwear anyway so I wouldn't be going higher than normal shoe size.

I have a 9 and they're a perfect fit. 9 is my normal shoe size too.

Is the site in UK size or US size?

Do the guys ordering the size 9s have wide feet? And if so, how is the fit? I'm a size 9 length-wise, but I have had trouble in the past with shoes being too narrow.

Not sure if mine would be wide but I wouldn't say they're narrow. The PP2s I got are pretty tight. You wouldn't be comfortable doing a much walking in them but I don't need them to be.

My feet are freakishly wide to a point where runners burns the skin off but in my PP2' I'd walk all day in them no fear.

Do people find that after changing over to weightlifting shoes their max goes up or is it more a thing of your form improves?

It depends on a lot of things: what you'd usually squat in, your forms, ankle mobility etc.

For a lot of people, they're a way of getting them in a better position and that increases their chance of squatting heavier.

That's how I see it anyway.

In thinking general lifting shoes have a wide toe box compared to regular footwear.

My max went up from my lifting shoes by about 10kg. At the time I had bad mobility too though so that was a factor like Alf said in getting into a better position.

The main adidas.ie site is now stocking the power perfects for €88 and the powerlift 2.0s for €77 at the moment, nor sure if they are just selling them on the main site until they sort out the specialist sports site so they might not be available for long. Delivery is about a fiver and you can get 15% off your first order when you sign up to their newsletter, should make the power perfects about 80 quid delivered. Unfortunately the don't have the adipowers and I don't know if they will be stocking them on the main site but I'd say you should be able to order over the phone as I have to say from dealing with them a couple of times that adidas customer service is second to none.

Irish site has the adipowers now:
    http://www.adidasspecialtysports.ie/product/adipower-weightlifting-shoes/V24382

€170 (175 for white) but €144.5 with the 15% off if you sign up for newsletter....missing a lot of sizes though

Have the fixed the ordering system on the site though? Tried to get the PP2s a while back and when I rang he chap said they had ongoing problems with it.

Just ran through the steps for ordering and they seem to have sorted out the problem with inputting addresses as I managed to get through the billing stage and as far as payment. As Thud said, a lot of sizes missing at the moment but this is the site that has always had the adipowers so they should be coming back in stock shortly.

Anyone on here have the Romaleos? Wondering about sizing......what I'm picking up from various sites is go down half a size from my nike free runners....anyone here with first hand experience??

  • Registered Users Posts: 94 ✭✭sean_0

Has anyone successfully applied the 15% off voucher on http://www.adidasspecialtysports.ie ? It keeps telling me my voucher isn't valid (just got it yesterday so it's not expired)

Edit: Figured it out - voucher came from adidas.ie and I was trying to use it on the speciality sports site. When I got a voucher from the speciality sports site, it worked. For the record I've put through an order for red adipowers for eur145. Pretty sweet. Works out about $70 cheaper than I can get them from anywere here in Australia. Have relatives coming soon so they will bring them over for me.

Would have preferred white but as was mentioned above they are missing sizes here and there

Does anyone know of physical shops selling these shoes in Dublin, or is it all online? Can't seem to find any info on the Internet.

D8fitness in Dublin sell Adidas and Inov8 weightlifting shoes.

    http://www.d8fitness.com/store/foot-wear/

I think one of the sports shop chains (champion sports or lifestyle I'm not sure) in Ireland carries the Reebok weightlifting shoes.

Would Adidas Power Perfects be recommended as a first weightlifting shoe? I'm just going to be using them for squatting.

Yep! Really good shoe. I used a pair of power perfects for two years and I am sure they would have lasted for another two on top of that.

I'd say they the best shoe to get from a cost:benefit point of view for most lifters
