Another Samuel Beckett. Now he has a bridge, a navy ship and this.

Let's petition to call it something else.

All he needs now is a train station or an airport. On topic i think the pitches should be given to park celtic because the ones in the are like a paddyfield from about october to april

The pitches will be available to all. The club just needs to contact the office and book the slots. Get in early before some one else does

That proposal for the Samuel Beckett complex in Ballyogan is so old the naming actually pre-dates the bridge and the ship! It has been on the cards for about 10 years, I was sure it fell victim to the crash, but better late than never.

The Filipino sari sari shop opposite walters pub in dun laoghaire have a sign up saying the shop and upstairs will be ready to let from september. Shame as its got some unusual stuff that regular asian shops do not have.

It's one of the Costello sons from Costellos ("Expert Hardware") on Patrick street who has set up Ballybrack Hardware.
Ah right, I know that shop.

I popped into the new hardware shop, it was quite expensive, dunno how long it will last. I had just been in dun laoghaire and got a rake of stuff in dealz for 1.49, the hardware shop have loads of similar things but for about 4.50 each. Tescos would have a lot of the stuff too.

I know, all those people reading books and improving their literacy and education, I mean, what's the world coming to, FFS.

You need to out it into perspective as to what percentage of the overall budget is being out into library's

    .

I found it to be a terrible shop in comparison to other asian supermarkets. I also noticed that they short-changed me on more than one occasion. Stopped giving them my business a long time ago.

To be fair, the library element doesn't seem to be a major feature, and the only nearby (relatively) libraries in Cabinteely and Glencullen are tiny and ancient.

    1. a community centre & childcare facility,
    2. a library/sports building
    3. a playground
    4. synthetic & natural grass pitches and
    5. a skate park.

You need to fix the P on your keyboard.

Then you need to put it in perspective of the increasing demand for library services, and the value of library services.

And people can do that just as easily via digital format, without millions having to be spent on infrastructure to appease a small minority.

    Pure nonsense.

By that logic you could do away with every public or shared facility in the community and say why dont people do everything at home; sport, socialising, arts, personal development. Community facilities arent there to generate profit, though some do, the main point is to contribute to society.

It's funny how libraries are full of customers every day so. Lots of people want to use books. Libraries are offering digital formats now - some people like them, and some don't.

The libraries I go to are fairly full, secondary school kids go to study there. They have kids reading hours etc, pensioners seem to be in meeting each other and just getting out of the house. They are not all that quiet, the librarians themselves seem to make no attempt to be quiet themselves, and only go after really loud kids who are legging it around the place.

Many are not used to computers and any sort of technology, I know this well as I am often helping older people in there to use the PCs or printers, including the librarians.

Totally below the belt comment. You are talking about a family's livelihood here. I found nothing wrong with this little family run shop.

Just cause the shop isn't up to your standards, give them a break. What do you want the whole world to be full of giant superstores?

Perhaps their new premises will allow them to present a decent stock in an environment that isn't so dingy and cramped. But being a family run business doesn't excuse anyone from maintaining a reasonable level of standards. If my experience shopping with them was sub par then I have every right to express that sentiment. What do you want, a world with no competition and brutal service? I'm perfectly happy using the Asian store in Blackrock market as an alternative. If their new shop is a better experience for the customer then I wish them well as Dun Laoghaire could use a store of this type. But if it is more of the same, then I will simply continue to ignore them.

What a small business needs is constructive feedback, fed back directly to them. What they don't need is someone launching a scud missile at their business from behind a keyboard, giving them no chance to defend themselves. I see this all the time on Menupages etc. too.

This poster also accuses them of short changing them also on a public forum, implying robbery no less. I would almost guarantee it was a genuine mistake and I frankly don't believe it was on more than one occasion. But again, to get on a forum and throw these allegation into the sour dough mix is, imo, downright mean. Don't go back to the shop if it doesn't suit you, but no need to slate them either. This is someone's livelihood. How would you like it, you can't surely be perfect.

What do you think fora such as this or menu pages exist for. Businesses can be lauded or berated as a poster sees fit based on experience. I didn't dare suggest that the short changing was intentional. But when you work out customers change on the back of notepad as I have seen there, then its not all that surprising. Like I said, standards are required to meet the publics expectations. I'm just quite disappointed that my local Asian store happened to be one of the lower quality ones. I would be delighted if they got their act together. For all your concern, you are the one bringing more negative attention on the place by continually taking issue with my right to an opinion on their service.

Blue orchid in Stepaside closed, loved this place for a weekend takeaway. Hopefully they're renegotiating the rent or something and do come back, even if just as a takeaway.

A "Sale Agreed" sign has been up outside Wright's Dalkey Dispensary for the past couple of months. Does anyone know what's happening to it or who has agreed to buy the premises?

Perhaps you should just keep shopping in Tescos etc, well at least by ging'gos thet have real cash registers and don't dare to calculate on a piece of paper and then rob you while they are at it! Doubt if your custom would be missed. Kick a man while they're down why dont ye.

Lads, your personal stories and opinions on shops are duly noted, but try and keep this thread on topic.
