Dirty toilets are unacceptable. I have of course let them know. The fact that they are in this state already is extremely disappointing, I was hoping we had moved beyond the pigs in the parlour state of affairs.

Let's see if things improve, although one email from me might just get the run around.

    Who do we email?

A few planning permissions in the Newtownpark area:

    1. The derelict building alongside fu moon is requesting permission to change usage to become a shop. The request is from the same people that are renovating the playwright and the new shop will have access from Newtownpark Ave and also from the Playwright car park.
    2. The former convenience store on newtown park (next to burgundy beauty and the pharmacy) is applying for permission to be a funeral home.

    The owner will love that..

That's a shame, it served us well when kids were younger. I'm amazed that the Total Fitness gym and pool has sat unused and unoccupied for years now - awful waste.

we had our youngest's birthday party up there last December and I though it was a great facility with very good staff and facilities - it was my first visit to the place, a bit off the beaten track alright.

If the shopping centre was demolished, the Pen Shop would still be there.

O2 store and ground floor accessory shop both closed in Blackrock Shopping Centre. Both small units which never seemed to get much footfall.

Is it not changing to a 3 shop as o2 have merged with 3. Also does anyone know why have 3 kept the theyre exsisting stores in dun laoghaire and dundrum while merging the networks with o2

I understand that the existing 3 shop in Dun Laoghaire (and not the refurbished O2 one) will close shortly. Probably seeing out the lease etc.

Pretty sure the sign says it's closing and moving elsewhere as part of the 3 merger.

Sankara , the beauty salon, in Sandycove has closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

There's been a few salons there now that have all closed up for one, sometimes strange, reason or another.

One problem with with them is that theyre stillorgan shop is quite pricey which dosent really draw people in particurlarly in dun laoghaire i know they sell a premium product but how many things like posh delis or that kind of thing have you seen in dun laoghaire have you seen in dun laoghaire

Price dictates, but the obvious question is are we to think that the world has only room for Tescos, Poundworld/Dealz? Must every high-street, town and city sell the identical merchandise at identical prices, as this is all the consumer is prepared to pay.

The very same consumers are the first ones to moan, whine, whinge and be-wonder as to why all the little individual shops and family run business have long since packed up shop, as the consumer has chosen to shop in Tescos.

You can't have your cake and eat it, unless you are prepared to pay and patronize the source it comes from.

Let's see how they do. It's certainly something else than pound/charity shops but I wouldn't call it posh, it's just an independent/small chain bakery. Their breads might be pricier on the label but they are large and solid sourdough loaves, very good value actually if you look at their weight. Great for slicing & freezing so wastage is reduced too.

Tesco is really lacking there - if you don't want sliced pans, their baked in store range is not cheap either, and Natural Bakery is better quality for similar price.

It's exactly the type/size of store that could take hold in the main street, I'll be interested to see how they fare.
