I know its good to see an Irish company get in there the only I think they lack is video games. Even if they just the main titles such Fifa, COD and GTA etc. and sold them for a competitive price. Dundrum lacks anywhere that sells them bar Tesc. Hmv was a ripoff for games.

Yeah I agree with your point regarding games in HMV. They are still a joke regarding their pricing; even though they're sold online now through their website.

Their most expensive game is Watch Dog DEDSEC Edition on Xbox 360 at nearly €117. Talk about a bloody rip off.

I don't bother buying games on consoles anymore though. I buy them on Steam instead for much cheaper.

Not quite a new business but I see that the EP Mooney company has taken over the MSL Hyundai dealership in the old MSL Audi showroom on Deansgrange Road. The signage at either end of the showroom has been changed to 'Mooney Hyundai', the big banner 'MSL Hyundai' sign facing the VW showroom across the road was still there today.

With the recent transfer of the VW dealership to Frank Keane, this means that Grange Motors is now exclusively a Mercedes dealer.

Argos is usually quite good but I always forget about them!!

Does any one know what is going in to the old Spar unit in sandycove? There is a planning notice on the door for a restaurant/take away

the application for the change of use is in the name of the Spar operator in Ireland, BWG. They have owned the building at Sandycove (including the flat above) since taking overr the franchisee a few years ago, and and are also on a long lease at the Glasthule premises. I think it's as simple as that they didn't want another convenience store opening near Glasthule so have lobbed in a change of use PP. I have no idea if there's anyone lined up to take it.

On a related note, Centra (Musgraves) at the Glenageary roundabout is changing to Spar (BWG) shortly.

Really it was only about two or three years that was a Spar now they're changing back.

In much the same way that Eurospar in Dalkey was rebranded back to Super Valu. Amazing to see what goes around comes around.

LIDL and ALDI have come around ;) literally.

In fairness to eurospar that was before superquinn was rebranded and SuperValu became the biggest chain

a new shoe shop, specialising in orthopedic etc. shoes is going into a unit two doors down from McLoughlins/Kozie in Dun Laoghaire. I think that the unit was most recently a charity shop.

Also, the gym underneath the Pavilion has been rebranded as Westwood.

the unit that used to be La Strada, which was sold recently, is being turned into a single residental unit.

Signs are up (and looking for staff), something like La Cubana. Menu posted up in window too. "Mexican" food. You won't get much change out of a €20 note for a burger. They should fit right in!

    I think it's Little Cabana??

Little Venecia take-away on Ballyogan Road appears to be shut down and is being re-opened as a San Marino takeaway.

I see their facebook page comes in for a bit of choice customer feedback. The menu is available there too (with NI prices though)

Alot of these chipper chains such as San Marino and Romayos have popped up in the last couple years they seem to be buying out a lot the independent chippers or are they franchises.

I saw a huge romayos truck on the road before. There are 11 romayos in dublin now, there are 11 supermacs in dublin for comparison

I am extremely sureprised that such a shop is doing so well at the moment. I thought they went tits up years ago but they seem to have done a good job to pick themselves up.

To be fair to them Golden Discs have done everything they can to keep themselves afloat so far, restructuring etc and keeping themselves priced competitively, delighted all their work is paying off.

Lidl Glenageary opened today creating 20 jobs. It's the 149th Lidl store in Ireland - surely they've reached capacity now?

I'm sure the jobs are just displacing more than 20 jobs.

Between Aldi, LIDL and Tesco the area is well serviced. SuperValu and Spar/ Centre are going to find it tough.
