Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'll start with this great fight:
Amir Kahn V Marcos Maidana - December 11th 2010 - Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - 2010 Fight of the Year

    200px-Amir_Khan_vs._Marcos_Maidana.jpg
Khan was odds on favourite and dominated the fight early, knocking down Maidana in the 1st round with multiple body shots. It seemed that Maidana would be doing well to hang in there for a couple of rounds....

Full fight available to watch hosted on Video BB on the link below:

I like the tread, but maybe an "obscure" classics would be even better. We always get the same old classics being thrown out here.

My obscure classic fight is Hagler-Mugabi, which featured one of the best rds in ring history. Rd 6. This rd to me beats rd 10 in the Castillo-Coralles scrap.

BTW, how do you link youtube like it is above, so we all can view without having to click on a link first?

Hell of a round. I think probaly the best of all time. Even better than Rd 1 in the Hearns-Hagler scrap.

I almost fukkin creamed my pants the first time I saw that fight and that round. I was actually borderline in shock. This fight took my interest in boxing to the next level. Gatti remains my favourite boxer.

As I was an extremely young lad at the time of this fight, it was the reason I started following boxing.

Think you would have enjoyed the fight even more had you not been tugging at yourself.

Was gonna say Ward vs Gatti 1 myself aswell, great post Walshb, Hagler is my fav of all time could watch him fight all day long. One of my favs is actually quite a poor fight but i could watch Barrera knocking Hamed around the ring ten times and still not get tired of it, just could not stand the arrogant little prick.

Yes, that fight was tame. Hamed was just exposed. Looked so ordinary and poor when faced with a good and skilled and tough fighter. All that leaping in with wild and looped shots didn't work against MAB.

For sheer courage and desire to take the title, this effort from the great Azumah Nelson (then a complete novice and late sub) v the great Salvador Sanchez takes some beating.

Riddock Bowe v Evander holyfield trilogy ! WOW

That first fight is one of the finest fights ever. It simply reiterated why this sport at its best is the best sport on earth, and also, that the heavyweight champion is/was is the most famous/revered athlete on earth.

Not sure if many have seen Toney-McCallum 1. If not, then see it. Nothing major exciting, but technically it's pure class. Plenty of action, but very subtle and skilled action, as opposed to your all out wars.

I agree, absolute bruiser. I love fights where you can see clean connections.

Hate them fights with certain boxers who seem to clip, miss and hit mostly arms and elbows. A Steve Collins fight, for example.

Maybe not a classic fight, but demonstrates the power of Earnie Shavers.

It was said that George Foreman did his best to avoid Shavers in his career, he even admitted as much in interviews in later years.

About 2.20 into the video when he floors Holmes

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM6qQ50SpPw

To be a world champ in those days, you had to be tough as nails, even Ali took some punishment.
